Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Before I completely reduce my credibility to zero based on the heresy I feel compelled to write, can someone answer me a very basic question: is the quality of the at-table dining in the SYD Flounge supposed to be "up there" with the best of Sydney's restaurants?

Regards,

BD

IMO it's probably the best lounge food in the world, but to compare it to Sydney's best restaurants? No way!

no... it is more the quality of food you would get at the cafe/bistro of a 4* hotel. and even then some dishes are better than others.

there are quite a few lounges around the world offering as good or better food. but QFs offering holds up ok :)

what makes the qantas F lounges special is the style and decor. the other elements are good but not outstanding.

Thanks Boomy,

It's probably the continual reference to NP and Rockpool which set my expectations unreasonably high. I'll taper my criticism.

they make the same references to the food on board and that as well is about equal to a reasonable bistro standard.

I had a flight attendant tell me the food isn't as bad in Rockpool restaurants as it is on the plane.

So glad to have my next FLounge visit booked (well, trip booked). QF8 to QF 11 in May.

Alone. :D:cool:

That QF8 to QF12 IS a decent layover ... :p

... Assuming you meant QF11, that's over 4 hours ... love it!

Doh! I did mean QF11. Was looking at a dom flight arriving at ~10am instead of QF8. Worried about it being enough tome after transfer and before boarding ... After looking at the dom options, I figured best to just do QF8, and experience the BNE F Cupboard and the SYD FLounge in one trip. ;)

Just booked my first flight out of Syd Int as a newly minted WP. I'm doing the JQ Dom to Melb (fingers crossed it isn't cancelled on me!) and am super excited about the Flounge and the breakfast menu. Am drooling already! I should have about 2.5 hours to kill so will make the most of it.

Enjoy!

(and so starts the slippery slide towards desperately trying to requalify WP)

Current F Lounge Menu

The Bolli, Taittinger and delamotte was served today in SYD. Veuve not on menu.

This. Veuve still on the menu at MEL though.

Oh and the sticky toffee pudding we had at SYD last weekend was sooo good!

It was Good Friday, so I probably should have been eating fish or something (is that still the done thing?), but the lamb with coughin eggplant was delicious!

EDIT: Can't seem to get the darned photo to turn the right way. Original file is A-OK!
