Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Mrs Nut and I were in the SYD F lounge on Tuesday morning for breakfast. I had the Signature breakfast, Mrs Nut had the corn fritters and shared the pancakes with accompanying tea, good coffee and a couple of Mimosas for me. All up, a good breakfast.

Bonito flakes

Good flavours on the fish last time I had it, but shame it was completely overcooked
Mine was cooked nicely.

Often they precook when expecting to be busy, maybe you copped that.

I think I arrived just after a 100minute delayed QF93 departed, so bain Marie was bare of snapper (but explains the crisp duck).

I was lucky enough to be joined by @admin, @WilsonM and one of our support staff recently in the Qantas First Lounge in Sydney. We had a few hours to spare, so we tried one of everything on the menu and ranked each dish from best to worst.

You can see the full write-up and photos of each menu item here:

I had the snapper a couple of weeks ago before a cheeky trip to NZ. It was cooked perfectly.

So a shame it was subpar on your day. But I guess one thing that can have a lot of variation can be fish! Both portion size and degree of doneness.

The duck was tasty but I normally order the squid. I would have ordered both but we were pushed for time.

The banana and chocolate desert was quite good.

Anyway, I guess it’s “Summer Menu” from next week / month? We’re flying off again mid next week and will report back if it changes (although, I’m sure someone else will beat me to it!)

“… The only problem? It can be hard to decide if you’re visiting the Qantas First Lounge for the first time! …”. Really?

Surely most people, other than those suffering advanced dementia, would remember if they’d visited the Qantas First Lounge before.

Or was there a dearth of commas, or perhaps semi-colons, on the Qantas First Lounge menu?

Picky? Standards! The Qantas First Lounge isn’t the Cattle Crates public food hall. A modicum of literacy might, perhaps, be appropriate. PS: ‘betcha’ ‘snot as good as the Cathy First at LHR (used to be).

Mr Pedantic notes that in order to reach your interpretation, the post would have had to say: it can be hard to decide whether you’re visiting the Qantas First Lounge for the first time!

QF SYD F is miles better.

I’d rate QF SYD First better than CX HKG Pier First also. The QF F lounges in LAX and SIN, to some extent are up market “food halls”, although the actual food at SIN is very good.

‘Mr Pedantic notes no such thing. Mr Pedantic simply observes that punctuation to a pre/early high school level would remove glaring ambiguity. Or to put it another way, grunt grunt, grunt grunt.

It’s been a couple of years since l was in QF Mel F lounge but seeing that menu is really disappointing when you see the offerings on EK Mel F and it looks like a cheap diner when comparing it to EK DXB F. Confirms our decision to avoid QF F whenever possible.

Was in the Qantas MEL F lounge couple of weeks ago and the Signature Breakfast was spot on. Mrs Nut had the fritters that got that got thumbs up.
