Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I joined yesterday 2/9/16 and received "welcome75" but have not tried applied it. I was hoping to apply to a six pack sampler but not valid.

I tried a "dummy" order and it doesn't work. Consider expired. If you got it in an email dated 02-Sep might be worth contacting them, but I assume Father's Day gift card offer might end before then. Their offer for $25 off first order (with it's own website and all) is also no longer working. Code expired.

Was the Amelia Park stuff around with welcome75? Noticed it wasn't mentioned on OzB.

Thanks for clarification on gift card and 20% AC.

You get the 20% for 6 bottles - doesn't matter how you pay. You can't use the gift cards to buy more gift cards :)

Worked for me exactly as AC explained.. I picked up 6 x Amelia Park 2014 shiraz for $75... In hindsight, should have bought a $400 gift card for $200 and loaded up with 6 of the 2012's as well..(the 2012 Amelia Park Reserve is a ripper wine).

Shiraz or Cab Sav? (2012)

The recent Winery Lane sale was also just too good to pass up - 50% off gift cards, and $75 sign-up bonus - managed to grab
6 x Castelli 2014 Il Liris Chardonnay (JH98)
3 x Castelli 2012 Il Liris Cab Blent (JH97)
for $225 all in ($25/bot)

Gift cards were 50% off when the $75 code was still valid? That would have been a fantastic deal - wish you had let us know sooner or I had checked them out earlier!

I didn't realise it all worked until the last day of the promo, when I put in the order :)

To be fair, I'm not counting my chickens until the wine's actually dispatched. the welcome75 code was supposedly only valid for 12 bottle orders, but the site accepted it for mine.

Lucky you :)

Interesting - when I tried the code, it only worked for a dozen

Still, 50% off anything is better than $75 off a dozen, so thanks for sharing before Father's Day :)

For those unaware, it's 20% off single prices for either a straight 6pk or an order of any 12+ bottles

$75 off and 50% off the remainder was a surprise. From what I could tell they did a bunch of updates on their website over the 30/31st (my gift cards didn't work at all at first, then they added and removed the feature to use multiple gift cards). They offered to combine my two gift cards into one, and then the welcome75 code working on top was a bonus. Deal just seems too good to be true, so will not count on anything until the wine's on its way.

My understanding is that there are screwcaps that allow oxygen exchange. And I guess that'd be far more uniformly calibrated across the bottles of a vintage, as opposed to the variability in cork.
Seems that there have been a number of studies done, and I'd trust someone using the scientific method and mass testing, over the gut feel of a wine maker here or there.

Agreed. While cork v screw is (or rather was) a hotly debated topic, science has shown you're disadvantaging yourself with cork. Has nothing to do with wine storage methods as one user implied. The reliability of cork is simply quite variable when compared to alternatives.

So you ordered over the phone?

Interesting again that they allowed welcome75 with the gift cards given that they are meant to "not be used in conjunction with any other discount offer" :)

My partner has received a similar offer from LL - spend $40 each week for 3 weeks and receive a $50 gc. Still have the gc from last time about 6 months ago ...LL prices too high and range too limited.

If only Liquorland price-matched like 1st Choice :)

+1

anything natural generally has more variation than its artificial equivalent :)

Ordered online. Had to sort out a few issues with them before I could place the order - continually trying to place the order was how I noticed their online ordering system changing a few times over the two days. Seems like whatever checks they were enforcing for welcome75 must have got dropped in the version of the code that was online when I finally placed the order. Was happy to order without welcome75, but thought I try throwing it into the mix, and it stuck :)

2012 Reserve Shiraz...got some a while ago from VM and now down to my last 2.. haven't tried their Cab Sav but based on the reviews I'm tempted to try...

At $20 a bottle for their Reserve Cab Sauv 12 with a bit of bottle age, and a super smooth, well built wine with all the velvety chocolate and mint you'd hope from the Margaret River ...

... it's a no-brainer!!

I just ordered 10. Why? $400 gift card for $200 (50% off), ordering over 6 (so further 20% off), means I've got 10 $50 age-worthy MR Cabs that will always delight over the years to come. And $9 delivery on top is just fine too. Possibly one of the best $209 I've spent in a while.

Now, whether to repeat the same for the Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz 12 ... (another great wine)

Thanks Wozza, you twisted my rubber arm! I'm now in for 10 as well..

Yes, thanks Wozza and the others who have highlighted this deal. I'm going to top up with 6 of the Reserve Cab and 6 of the Reserve Shiraz. I've already got a few of each that I bought with the welcome75 offer, so this is a very cost-effective way of supplementing those wines.

Some years back I've seen a barrel sample drawn by a winery the day before and sealed with a cork that showed TCA taint...

TCA taint and corky/woody/musty (forest floor/barnyard/mushrooms to some) flavours have nothing to do with storage. Premature oxidation may be related to storage, but often isn't.
