Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Ex-Partner now, I gather...

We've just done a wine swap. So all is (as ever) well in the corporate world of law for us!!

Do you high priced lawyers ever do any work?

Yes. Ask the husbands and wives the hours their other halves work!

Maybe you could grab some of his French reds on arrival....

I like your thinking, Steady! I have a Bannockburn Shiraz 2010 and an unusual wine from Heathcote swapped instead. Will report on those when I get around to opening them.

Now, as I had written them off in my mind. They have all been gifted to the staff (minus the two swaps). None for me, but I get two nice wines to try instead. And get to let others try one of Amelia Park's best wines to date. None of them had heard of it, so it's a nice little marketing for such a great producer.

Whoever beat me to it and snaffled those clearance bottles of 2010 Leconfield Cab Sav in Tahmoor BWS for $17/btl.... I forgive you. For in their place I picked up the following bunch for about $140 after all clearance prices and discounts

I'm still in shock! This is at Macarthur BWS (where there are a bunch of other wines also on clearance). From memory there are still Petaluma 2010 available, some Stefano Lubiana, more Chris Ringland Reservation and Seppelt Sparkling Shiraz, among a couple of other premium end ones. There may be more champagne if you're prepared to dig, but I nabbed what I could find once I realised the prices. Haven't got the original breakdowns on prices with me.

United have a secret 2012 Barossa Grenache supposedly 70% off cellar door price ($50) at $14.99x12. I am tempted as 2012 was a good year in Barossa for Grenache.

12:10pm UPDATE - FOMO got the better of me so I went to have a look. Appears its all cleared out.

When Filsell has a large discounted ticket attached to it with a price of $37 you know its not a good sign.

Mavericks (GSM and cab blend) back up on Cellarmasters at $120 per 12
I got some at under $5, but considering going back for more...does anyone know of any current coupon codes?
The only one I can find is 5SENIOR which gives you 5% off so after wish cards, cash back etc the case is about $100 - still pretty good value...

Let me know how you go. A measly $9-10 is hard to complain about. My hand is on the buzzer..... but wait..... could this be divorce??

Not a bad assortment. The '10 petaluma were a nice find. Are these store specific unadvertised clearances?

Thanks for your update, saves me a trip going there tonight.

Definitely unadvertised, definitely store-specific. Staff mentioned 'word from head office' to clear some lines the store won't be stocking. You generally see the same wines around different BWS stores (with a little variation), but quite a number of these i've not seen on clearance before. There was a clearance that started about this time last year, makes me wonder if they're not gearing up for another run!

Yes. BWS seems to have random sales to clear lines that are not being stock anymore. What's available varies from store to store. Some stores never seem to have anything.

I'm sure AMEX will come through with a statement credit soon.

I guess this goes a way to explain the recent crazy pricing on some of their back vintages.

Should we all chip in and get an AFF vineyard?

Wonder how much stock to off load is still floating around? might pay to wait
