Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Also dropped into my local 1st Choice. Vast bulk of the BOGOFs were the <$20 category, with Devil's Lair Cab being about the only still wine above that. Did manage to grab the last bottle of Bollinger Grande Annee 2002 for 1/2 price (store manager said he'd sell it for that since he didn't have a second bottle). With the Amex $30 cashback, came to a net $85. 2002 supposedly a great vintage for Champers, so looking forward to trying this soon.

Woah. Anyone have any other premium wines to mention besides those mentioned upthread? Runrig at half price :o
Will only be able to get to my local tomorrow afternoon.

Have seen mention of Clonakilla SV, Run Rig, The Angelus, Vat 1, Amon Ra etc. However seems to be very store specific. The store I went to had Angelus, Amon Ra Clonakilla etc. at the regular prices. I was quite disappointed. With multiple Amex cards at the ready, I was quite prepared buy 20+ bottles. There was another older gentleman also wondering around checking out the labels - probably heard of the same deal, but he walked away empty handed I think.

There appears to be no rhyme or reason to what's being flogged off where.

Went to my local and bought a pair of 2013 Wynns V&A Shiraz ($59) and Vueve Clicquot Rose ($101). There wasn't much to choose from...

Might go to the Goulburn store this arvo and try my luck there.

Thanks QF WP.

Langton's tell me I am unlikely to get a referral credit from Boomy now - has to do with different brokers...

Had a good chat with him this morning and made my purchases:

So after $150 Amex credit, $308.50 for 14 bottles or $22 bottle - or another way to look at it, 2 Tolpuddles for free and the remaining 12 bottles @ $25.70 each.

He should be in contact with your referral bonus soon :D

Thanks QF WP, looking forward to your thoughts on the Tolpuddle.

I was told that any referral bonus would be worked out at the end of Jan or Feb.

Dropped into 1st Choice in Adelaide

Not much on offer for buy 1 get 1 - these where the picks:

Xavier Chateaneuf De Pape 11 @$50
Clonakilla Jack Reidy Shiraz 14 $34
St Hallets Sontaag 13 $ 25

Anyone tried the Clonakilla? Seems a Coles exclusive

My WISH card has been refunded twice. Got money back x 2 and the wine! Got to love Cellarmasters:)

No wonder I have too much wine!

I note 2day that their website does not accept multiple wish card payments when u have a carry over balance that does not equal the full purchase price...unbelievable

I dont think it ever did with cellarmasters.

Cellardoor has Saltram Mamre Brook Barossa Valley Shiraz 2012 for $22.

TWE called me up today and are offering slightly reduced prices on a lot of the stock - today only. The Mamre Brook was $20, Chalambar $15. I've spent too much lately, and am holding out for extra good deals only.
Could try calling them and seeing what you can get

Can't help with the Clonakilla apart from it being (from memory) a Canberra district wine, which pricewise makes it a shade below the O'Riada in terms of price (also a Canberra wine) and slightly above the price of a 'Hilltops' Clonakilla (Hilltops region). For half price I'd certainly give it a go.

Can definitely recommend the Xavier Chateauneuf - picked up a couple of bottles of the 09 for $25 each a couple of years ago and was very happy with it. Recall thinking it was much more 'Australian' in character than most other Rhone's i've tried (admittedly though, not tried many Chateauneufs).

Agreed - At half price I would pick up just about anything from Clonakilla

Goulburn and Edmonson Park are a waste of time if you're after the good stuff. Off to North Rocks now.

Road trip!

BTW - Given where it's located and the fact that its only been there for a couple of years Edmonson Park was unlikely to have had anything decent.

Got a voucher from Myers for $100 off at Cellermasters....must spend at least $190 or more.Vouches is good for 7 days.
Any recommendations?
