Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

That's crazy that you would just put up with that! (Unless you didn't.)

That for me would be a complaint to consumer protection and a CC charge back. Half the time you'd probably end up getting your money back, the right bottles and keeping the old ones!

I did end up lodging something with Fair Trading NSW which was a waste of time. They just said "we have spoken to Dan Murphy's and they feel they have done everything they can to help."

It was paid with a gift card so chargeback wasn't an option. I've made sure I use Amex with Dans from then on.

So,if paid by cc initiate a chargeback.

Sorry for the delay in responding. It was only a few bottles and could have impacted on Amex offer, so I took no further action. Would have done chargeback otherwise. They lose my business for decades so their loss in the end.

(Recap: First Choice Liquor. Wrong vintage. Wrong region. No recourse)

I also spotted this and thought it looked interesting, but it's not obvious if the 20% off applies here

...and I'm not sure if I want to have wine cross the Nullabor for me at this time of year regardless...

Absolutely do not blow your cash on this 'deal' - this 6 pack (or one very similar) has sold for about $120 after discounts previously on WM. Their value has just gone down the drain of late, made me laugh when they put a 15% code up last week, in order to help the overstocks in their warehouse! There's one simple way to do that, WM - drop your prices back to what they were.

So cancellation of your online account (assuming you did it this way) should elicit a response "why are you cancelling". Well, I wouldn't hold back in again citing this case and telling them they'll regret their decision to do nothing...

I'm suspecting it wasn't that simple - Electrotek got the wrong vintage (there is a note online saying vintages may vary, and aren't gauranteed).
1st Choice probably offered a refund - but that may have impacted Electrotek's "Spend $150 get $30 back" offer.
And since 1st Choice don't have a way of tracking individual vintages, so have no way of gauranteeing to fix the problem, probably told him to go to a store to search, if he really wanted that specific vintage.

Correct on the second part, incorrect on the first. No refund offered. It looked like a generic 'wrong vintage' email to me - I explicitly said I was aware of their vintage terms but that this was also different region and why I was writing. That part wasn't addressed. Quite simply wasn't worth bothering with, and they've given me wrong vintage before, so made final decision on giving up on them in future easier.

First Choice online chat have always been able to tell me the specific vintage based on my location. I've only asked them specifically a few times but they have always delivered this vintage when I've ordered.

And as per my rant above about WM prices - this pack is now down to $104 after the 20% discount. Seems like better value at about $17.50 a bottle!

I had a bad experience with First Choice too. Bought a 6 pack of the Wynns 2008 Black Label Cab before Xmas with the Amex offer. It ended up sitting in the AU Post depot for about 10 days before being delivered to me and I had to call First choice who then managed to get AU post to deliver it the next day. I had already split the case with a colleague. He's opened two bottles me one. The wine has that sour taste of vinegar that you get with extended exposure to heat, probably in the AU post depot. I will be ringing them to complain and try and get some sort of compensation.

Cracka Wines extended my pre Xmas $50 voucher until 15/1. As we'd obviously drunk a lot of wine over the festive season, I weakened and picked up a case of 2014 Naked Vine Pinot Noir for $140 (rounded) with an additional 5.5% cashback. Will help fill thee quaffers in the rack which now that I look at it, are seriously depleted :o

Hi All
Just looking at the top vivino list's for this week
and the Curtis Family Vineyards Cavaliere McLaren Vale Shiraz 2015 comes in at a whopping 4.9/5 !
I did some reasearch and it looks like it is this one?
https://www.winedirect.com.au/super-premium-2015-mclaren-vale-shiraz-6-pack-nov-offer-2
Can anybody confirm? cheers

ps: what is your best sub $25 quaffer? Mine would be the Xanadu Cab Sav - I managed to get a stack when cracka wines had the $50 voucher, and AMEX $30 back
But looking for other similar wines at that price point?
cheers

Im a big fan of the Xanadu 13 Cab too, although I reckon it needs a bit more time personally. The '14 Chardonnay is excellent too.

Are you looking for other good Cabernet around that price specifically? You can usually find Wynns Black label at that price if you hunt around at the right times. Probably better than the Xanadu if you go with the 08,10,12,13 vintages.

Yes, big fan of red's, not so much whites.
I've only got a 2 bottles of the Wynns Black Label 12 and 13 - got it when Winestar had the 150/50 offer ages ago. Too scared to drink them as I only have 2 of each ...lol
I see them RRP at $30 ish or so, but might crack one open tonight and if it's good, I can use my DM offer to get 20% off + cash rewards, should being it down to a respectable price.
Yes looking for Cabernets at that price so I can drink 2 a week if they are low cost , instead of 1 per week ....haha

If shiraz is your thing. I would highly recommend Hares Chase Ironscraper 2013. *https://www.langtons.com.au/product/67437/1/2013/hares-chase/ironscraper-shiraz)*. At $25 a bottle its a great wine. Can be had cheaper via auctions at Langtons.

Plenty of deals around if you keep your eye out e.g.
- the Blue Pyrenees 2013 Cab was available for $11.50/bot just before Christmas from Cracka ($50 off voucher, plus $30 back from Amex)
- the 2013 Houghton CW Ferguson cab blend is available for $25/bot now from VM
- the Wynns 2014 Black Label was available for $22/bot (WineMarket) and $23/bot (TWE CellarDoor site) late last year
- the Grant Burge 2014 Filsell was available for $20/bot from WineMarket late last year (use 20% off code - WMVISA)
- the St Hallett single vineyard 12-pack (Mattschoss, Materne, Scholz, Dawkins) is available for $22/bot from LionCo Den (PM me if you need an invite)

Hey Thanks for that
I got the 1st and 5th one already at those prices - same place. Is the 2013 Houghton one of the mystery deals on vinomofo? Cheers

For the price, it's hard to go past wynns cab sav with the langtons rating! I personally prefer WA cab sav and there's a few good buys around like the vasse felix filius. I haven't tried them yet but expect West Cape Howe Cab Merlot should be good ($15) and the yarra valley Dominique Portet ($20) from langtons.
