Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Paid a visit to Boccaccio today and swiped 6 cards.
Fantastic place, good verity and excellent service.
Stefano was not there but his brother, Antonio was available to give me the tour plus some recommendations. As said before not all wines are listed online and some which are listed as 'sold out' were actually still available in low quantities.
What did you get boomy?

According to their website nearly 40 years.

Pierro Chardonnay, Hurley and Tulpuddle Pinots and the last bottle of Yalunba Reserve 2001.

Early 80s on Burke Rd. Before that we were in Braybrook. First site was an entire supermarket in what is now the Liquor Shop. Then we moved to the servo on the corner which doubled our size and Liquor became Baby Bunting. Then a couple of years ago, we tripled the size and took up both sites plus the shop in between ;)

I'm doing a website audit over the next month so everything should be current hopefully by Mid April.

I was on site most of the day - spent a bit of time in the Meat department yesterday as I also manage all our speciality lines in there.

The Den are selling '14 St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz @ $25 / bottle delivered for 6 or $23.34 or 12.

Is that a 'good' price, or a regularly available price?

Sort of both, it's a good price, but fairly regularly (if intermittently) offered at that price. The usual best price is closer to $30.

I looked at that this morning. It's $23.5/btl if you take 12 or more.

Dans has it around $36, so even after the usual discounts you'd still be around 31.70 with them. Add free delivery and I thinks it's worthwhile.

Sadly, I have niether the budget, nor storage space.

Same here, although I'm actually being good this year. Am using Cellartracker to record my spend and am sticking to my budget (so far!)

It's definitely helped not just go after every wine because it's the cheapest it's ever been offered.

I'd think most of us here are in that camp - I can't drink them as quickly as I've been buying them this year. Both 24 bottle cellaring fridges are full, 60 bottle quaffing rack is full, have 18 quaffers sitting in a cupboard on concrete. Even my office has a full compliment (42) at present. I can only drink 4 bottles / week at present (by myself)...help :o :D ;)

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of buying - https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_MYSTERY9/secret-selection-margaret-river-semillon-2014 for a small gathering. Do you guys know what it is and if so how do you rate it? Alternatively, can you guys kindly suggest a 'decent' white for approx $15 per bottle.

It's the Wills Domain Block 2 (?) Semillon.

I bought 12 of that offer - it's a very good Semillon, that vintage might be a great Semillon. Tried in the cellar door and would have bought at full price had I not found that offer from DMs.

You probably already know this, but just in case, Semillon is not for everyone. It can be an acquired taste.

I've been in Brissy this week. If only I'd know sooner you needed help.

Next time perhaps...

I think we've swung the other way this year, very little buying and keeping up the drinking.

We're making sure the new house has under-stair storage so we can stash it all
