Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

It's not like you are the 1st person on this planet to make a blue when ordering wine Steady.

I know a certain clown who was on here crowing about a 'bargain' he got only to have it pointed out to him by a fellow AFFer that he actually bought 375ml botts and not 750ml botts!

Well he is a good lookin' rooster cruiser. ;)

For stores with BWS clearance - is it a section where they throw all the wines in? Or is it just ticked on the shelf
cheers

I asked the same question when the sales girl approached me as i was wondering around the store aimlessly.

They're marked as clearance on the shelves.

Hopefully Alphie was referring to the Home Paddock from CM and not the High Paddock - and it ends up being an OK quaffer...

Yes - he was. It was in context of a discussion about the Home Paddock being on sale. I've also ordered some :) Will compare to the High Paddock to see what they're like side-by-side.

Seem to vary by store.

One store I went to always put the sale wine down the end of one of the rows.
Another store, was told that they can't be bothered putting clearance stickers up, just look for price labels with a cross.
Some do put clearance stickers up.
Some stores never have anything on clearance.
It's all very random.

[h=4]Hi Steady,[/h]I wanted to let you knowabout some upcoming changes to our cashback rate at Dan Murphy’s. Dan Murphy’shas decided that rewards payable on transaction after May 29 will be decreasedby an average of 50% across all categories.
Whilst this is clearlydisappointing, I wanted to let you know in advance so that you can make themost of the current cashback rate of up to 7%. Get in before it goes!
Thanks for being a part ofthe Cashrewards community and I hope to see you back on the site soon.

Got an email from mywineguy for an extra 10% off all wines

To grab your additional 10% off all these wines, just apply the voucher code - BIGTRUCK - at the checkout and it will be automatically taken off the final price of your shopping cart.

I'm a big fan of the Virgin Hills they have as a vertical (with plenty of missing years)

Is there an unlike button somewhere...?

Picked up 5 bottles of 2013 Turkey Flat for $27 and a bottle of 2013 St Hallet Blackwell for $24. Ran out of WISH cards...

Decent but not that cheap compared to that cheap bottle of Moss Wood.

Finally experienced these BWS miracles you guys talk about. I get absolutely nothing remotely decent at my home BWS in Bris, but I'm on holiday down in Tassie and the local BWS had Wolf Blass Grey Label Cab Sav/Shiraz 2013 for $16.80 after taking 25% off for six deal. Only problem is, how quickly can I drink six bottles on holiday??

I'd estimate about 30mins once Steady and Rooey read this - expect a knock on your door any minute!

Why do you need to drink them on holiday? No liquids restrictions on Australian domestic flights (assuming you are flying...)

If you are visiting any vineyards take them with you - there is a scheme where you can collect a bottle here and there then one vineyard will freight them all for a fee

Anyone experienced with Mt Billy Wines...Soliloquy Shiraz?
From their website;

  • Region: Southern Fleurieu
  • Alcohol: 13.9%
  • Vintage: 2012
  • Varieties: Syrah
The grapes are sourced from our “No Secrets” vineyard. We use seven clones of Shiraz and superfine new French oak to produce this immaculately balanced, medium bodied, complex Syrah. Syrah is a style of Shiraz, typically lighter bodied, lower in alcohol, with a savory edge that makes it 'food friendly'. Think: long flavours of plush, cool climate black fruits, fine acid/tannin finish. Handmade and artisanal, as always.

High Paddock and Home Paddock are two different labels.

The "Home Paddock" is a made for Woollies line. High Paddock is normal retail offering.

Edit: it was the Home Paddock that was on sale through CM recently for ~$15/bottle (down to $11 with vouchers etc), not the High Paddock.

Geez, that is very tricky!
