Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Be careful, it has a lot of the member specials at higher prices! e.g. Gramps Shiraz 2010. Pretty sure it was $10.90.

This is not correct. This was $13.90 last week via the members only invite night. You might care to view the listings that various people (including myself) had placed in this thread.

I'm going from memory from what I saw on Saturday (who knows, maybe they reduced the price?). Either way, $15 is greater than $13.90 or $10.90, so the initial point stands.

I'd love some for $10.90 (which is well below the price for the current release), so it would be very helpful if you could provide the relevant details. Otherwise I'll rely upon the lists provided in message numbers #754, #755 and # 765, which indicate, via separate independent sources, consistently that the price was $13.90 not $10.90.

Gramps definitely $13.90. Heck I'll goto my local store, grab a bottle tonight and see if it still scan $13.90 or $15

I've noticed Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz price have gone up (was $25.90 now $28.90 online).

Just bought a bottle for the sake of settling this. It's $12.90 actually.

Will upload receipt when I get home shortly :-)

To set the record straight, I also paid $12.90, last Thursday (I was not able to access the receipt until now). I still cannot confirm or deny if I saw it for $10.90 on Saturday as I don't have the list and didn't buy any then. Given that some of us paid $13.90 (or so some lists say), others paid $12.90, and I may have seen it for $10.90 (with plenty of stock I might add) just shows it's a big jumble!

Again, the initial point still stands! $15 > $13.90 > $12.90 > $10.90. So be cautious if buying from the online stocktake sale.

What's to be cautious of? The previous pricing isn't available. If you think $15 is a fair price then just buy. No different to airfares - the Red e-deal from last week isn't available anymore - if you think the current price is good then you might as well book lest it return to full price

Thanks to the experiences of others here I managed to get a few good buys from the sale. I bought two 2010 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier - I see the guide on the bottle is 5-10 years but dies this have the potential for 20 years cellaring?

I doubt it. You won't know until you try, but I'd say around 10 years is about where it might peak.

Langton's Vintage Chart rates the 2010 a 7/10. (Previous 2 vintages rated 10!). 20 years might be a stretch but the best part of 10 (as stated on bottle!) seems feasible. At the best part of a $100 per bottle I'd only consider it in exceptional vintage years. There's a lot of wine out there!

I have a bottle at home (was $85 at cellar door when first released) and also got to try it again at SYD QF F lounge last year when they had it as the decanter special. It's VERY good wine :)
