Brokenwood `Thompson's Road` Shiraz 2012

Brokenwood `Thompson's Road` Shiraz 2012 (6 x 750mL), Hunter/Beechworth | Buy Red Wine Online - oo.com.au

Works out at $29.74 a bottle with free delivery on a 6 pack buy.

Anyone had this before. With a RRP of $50 seems good value.

Worth checking the oo.com.au site for yourself, seems some other good bargains as well.

EVERYTHING IN CONTEXT,,THE LOU MIRANDA shiraz at $15 normally $50 is an incredible deal, but it's no Amelia park

I thought this was the DM thread. VM have their own. ;)
As I ponder my many years of wine enjoyment, I ask myself the same question over and over. Namely, does Dan murphy's purchased wine taste any better in a quality liquid receptacle?

The answer to many may not be obvious but without that glass, actually without that crystal glass to be precise, I would not have had so much olfactory stimulation to enhance my imbibing enjoyment. A good whine needs a good wine but a good wine needs a good time.

There is some reasonably strong evidence to suggest the "riedel effect" is just that, an affect. Something like use of placebos in medicine, tell someone it works and they believe it.

There is no credible evidence that better glasses work, however there is plenty of evidence that if told they work, people believe it.

Oh, and PS, Yes I use nice glasses myself. But I remain a cynic.

Burmans I too was a cynic until I attended an Epiqure Riedel wine tasting night a couple of years ago... and when tasting the same wine through different glasses you could really tell the difference...

Then through a couple of blind tasting experiments, they showed us that different wines tasted in a glass designed specifically for their variety really enhanced their flavours.

try a glass that you would drink lemonade from and contrast the tasting of a red wine with one of your wine glasses and see what how it compares. If there isn't enough contrast hen we go to plan B

I notice they are the Vino Vino Red glasses, rather than the Bordeaux glasses, but I have jumped on it regardless (having missed out last time)... Anything else on their site worth buying?

I think so...

picked up a six pack of scott zwiessel vina white wine set6pc for 42.20 delivered....I have one remaining from four, and love the glass.... the remaining one has a little extra weight, and a great feel. Schott zwissel use some fancy titan glass whateveryouwannacall it, but it makes it a damn good receptacle so I suggest you buy a six pack. cheers

Yes I know we "think" it tastes better but does it really?. Consider the experiment where scientists coloured a white wine with red colouring. Enough to make a majority of wine "expert" tasters "think" it was red.
