Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Ok so I had to go out today and thought I would drop into a couple of LL stores - Just in case.
The first store didn't stock Blackwell at all
The second did and I asked the lady at the counter to scan the bottle - she said does it not have a label and I replied that it did but I had heard it was on special but wasn't sure if that special had ended. It scanned up at $5. Winner !!!!!!! But they only had one bottle 😢.
The next three stores I visited didn't stock it and so I gave up.

Such a Dicken's moment - the best of times and the worst of times 😂

However I am sure that this will be the best $5 wine I ever taste!!!

Reminds me of a few years ago when in Liquorland in Traralgon or somewhere in Country Vic, one bag of goon would scan but the other wouldn't so the worker just gave it to me for free. Was a very happy 18 year old...

I also rate the Blackwell very highly and will purchase at sub $30 so this represents a bargain up there with the best.

Alas, I didn't get any here in the ACT but it wasn't through lack of trying. I had a doz in the cart, twice, using VIC and ACT delivery, only for them to disappear on checkout - despite receiving those "your wines are in your cart" emails. Later in the night I thought I'd pop into the LL next to the Coles I was at just 'on the off chance'. None on the shelf so I asked the counter-dude if they normally stock it. After looking at the handheld device thingy he said "Yes we do and we've got six bottles, they're $10". He searched around the place for 10 minutes but couldn't find them.

D'oh, so close. One day I'll get to the party on time....

The LL near my office wouldn't release my click and collect order this morning although I got the SMS on Saturday to come pick it up. He had a note on the system not to release the order until receiving further instructions.

Nice that someone at LL can communicate internally over the weekend but I still haven't been contacted to tell me the order is cancelled.

Good restraint by you. If that were me I would have given them an absolute gobful. Shouldn't be allowed to withhold it if the transaction has been processed and you've been sent notification to pick it up.

Just in from Cashrewards:

'ENDING SOON: Save 5% on Woolworths Gift Cards
As a valued Cashrewards member, we want to tell you about upcoming changes to our Woolworths Gift Card program.

  • From 21 Oct 2020, we’ll offer 3% discount on Woolworths Gift Cards.
  • From 19 Nov 2020, no further discounts will be available.

This decision applies to a wide range of partners advertising Woolworths Gift Cards and lies outside the control of Cashrewards.

Stock up and save

There’s still time to save 5% instantly with Woolworths Gift Cards. Stock up now to keep on saving at Woolworths, Dan Murphy’s, BIG W, BWS, Caltex and more.'

This appears to indicate that the change will be universal: ' This decision applies to a wide range of partners advertising Woolworths Gift Cards and lies outside the control of Cashrewards. '

Question now is how much to stock up on!

UPDATE: just bought 10 x $500. Should I buy more?

UPDATE 2: All 10 cards were received within 10 mins.
Just a reminder about this changing in 2 days time. Many other current sources of the 5% discount have also indicated that they will be reducing from 5% as well.

And if you are thinking of stocking up, be aware of reports on Ozbargain of problems with the Woolworths gift card site. Do not delay is my advice.

No point blowing up at the guy in the store it's not his fault.

These bottles are still scanning at $15 as of 11:30 today. The store manager wouldn't sell them to me on the spot once he realised it was a price error. My bottles were behind the counter not on the shelf.

Hopefully there will be a shift change later today and I'll try my luck again but everyone get out there and have a crack at this today before they update their prices. If LL are going to treat customers like this they deserve what they get.

No doubt I'll have to chase them for a refund on the dozen I ordered for delivery too.

very poor form. I believe if you have ordered, paid the sum and received the confirmation email then thats a contract of sale and it needs to be honoured.

I placed 3 click and collect orders from 3 different stores and each one was in stock before I ordered. I have not received a text or an email about any of them. I wouldnt be blaming the people in store either as its not their fault but to simply ignore the order is very poor form.

I just called the store I placed an order with. They claim not to have received it at all despite me having a confirmation email. So either it's been blocked/held at head office, or that's simply the story they're having outlets tell customers now.

And why do we as customers have to do all the chasing here? If we just did nothing, how long would it be before it is actioned? a week, a month??? Will they just cancel and refund without have the decency to inform the customer?

For my Saturday order of a dozen bottles delivered to Victoria, my credit card has been charged (transaction has posted, not just pending), shopback has tracked and flybuys points have hit account! At one spot in my account it even says delivery today! Elsewhere, delivery in a week. Based on reports here, not expecting to receive anything and expect to have to chase a refund. Should’ve done what boomy did and called DM to PM. Will know for next time.

Even that isn't guaranteed. Dan's refused to price match over the phone for me. Hence why I went to the store.

Thank you for your recent order with us.

We have procedures in place to help minimize out of stock situations, however unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, we are currently out of stock of St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 750mL.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused, as we certainly understand how frustrating it is when a product ordered is unavailable.

As there is no suitable replacement for this product, we have cancelled your order and issued a refund in full.

Check your local stores guys.
I dropped by the LL I put in a click and collect on Sat and there were 5 bottles sitting on the shelf listed at $53/bottle. Asked the guy to do a price scan and he laughed and said "I think you could be onto something" Sure enough $15/bottle as of 4:45 QLD time

I didn't mention my click and collect order just that I'd seen them online for 15 on the weekend but only managed to drop by today He said he thinks the boss had these out the back as she was planning on getting them herself but then changed her mind.

Still no idea what the state of my supposed click and collect order is but I've just sniped my own bottles :)
