Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Weird. That exact same link gives me the page as poochio posted it. I am on my mobile which might be the difference?

Can't get a screenshot figured out but there is the following text:

Two of the best in one stunning gift.
Includes a bottle of Wolf Blass Platinum Shiraz 2004
The perfect gift for a wine lover

mobile for me too

But that logic doesn't work.

Look at this item:

https://www.cellarmasters.com.au/gi...l-ouverture-magnum-glasses-twin-pack-GROTMAG2

It clearly says 'twin pack' x 1. Therefore there is 1 x 2 items for a total of 2 items.

If you write 'twin pack' x 2 then there must be 2 x 2 items for a total of 4 items.
2 x items (1 bottle + 1 bottle), compared to one pack of two glasses. You'd be relying on goodwill of the vendor rather than any obligation of the vendor to give you 4 bottles!

I'll be relying on more than good will when I call them tomorrow.

I'll be relying on the ACL and relevant sections which deal with misleading and deceptive conduct.

At over $200 for this deal for just 2 bottles this was never an offer I'd have considered.

But then look at this item: https://www.cellarmasters.com.au/mixed-cases/wine/regional-shiraz-dozen-SM1604

It clearly says that there are a "dozen" "x12" which makes 144 bottles there! Grossly misleading. (Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week. Remember to tip your waitress.)

To be clear, I think it's a pretty bad UI for this sort of thing but it's probably a completely generic template and most likely someone enters these descriptions and pack quantities into a database without thinking how they'll eventually be rendered onto a web page. You're being perfectly reasonable to find it misleading but I doubt it was intentionally so on their part. It would be very bad if they didn't allow you to cancel the order under the circumstances. I wouldn't expect them to honour it though.

Check a few other Cellarmasters links - the x2 is bottles in the pack. E.g. x6 is a six pack, x12 is a case of 12

Good point. in my view it is a bit sloppy of CM on this one - if I just look at this deal alone, I read as 2 x twin pack. I suspect they've just followed their normal template without looking at the text of the offer, i.e. 'twin pack'

Avoid? have you even tasted it? can you tell me something better that can be had in this price range?

The wine is drinking superb and at a good price hence my post. If you buy your wine based on a 92 point ranking from Halliday in July 2014 or Winefront in August 2014 good luck to you.

I have more expensive and well regarded Cabernet in my collection than this and they don't stack up against this. On that note I am going to crack another bottle open of it now to be sure!

Wine is a personal thing, so what's "better" for one person isn't for another - otherwise we'd all be trying to buy the one single bottle! So, I appreciate you're rating this particular one highly.
That said, I did an export from CellarTracker of my Cabernet/Cabernet blend purchases in the $0-40 range for the past 12 months - I don't buy a lot in this range (I tend to buy older/more expensive cabernets), but there's still a huge array of good deals. I'm sure others can chime in with their deals too. Given the range of stuff that $30/bot buys these days, I'll avoid splashing out for $30 2011 SA vintage with less than stellar reviews.

Don't know what is going on with the MyDanMurphys part of the site. A month or so ago it was showing purchases that were not made by me but not showing purchases I had made & now it only shows purchases up until Feb 2016 & nothing since. They seem to be taking an awfully long time to fix it, is this the same for others?

Thanks for this. A good range - and some clearly have a strong pedigree behind them. Great deals from WineMarket BTW
I think our views on what is considered a lot of purchases may differ though! :)

I went a bit overboard on the Wynns and Lindemans deals last year - awful lot of black label, V&A Lane, Pyrus/St George/Limestone Ridge purchased :) Remove those, and it's a bit more subdued :)

haha I must show this list to my wife :)

Some v nice gifts there!

Yalumba signature was a great find. I keep sporadically wandering into my local (tint) BWS and being very disappointed.

Initially I only bought a single bottle of the 2012 from BWS (with others on special to make up 6). Took them home to show the wife, who said "we like the Signature, don't we?" I said "yes" (we have a bunch in the cellar), and she said "go get the rest of them" :)

November seems to be the month, historically, that BWS does the stock line deletion, and the good specials are available.

Hmm another post gets deleted when I try to edit it on mobile. Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong..

It's not well; here's what I see. I have definitely bought more since then, most notably during the cellar release stocktake sale in April. So even the line about there being technical issues related to purchases since Sunday 29th May isn't right.
