Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Can get some very good wines for $30... not sure bin 28 is worth that, nice as it can be.

I know everyone loves to rag on Penfolds, but at $30 it's a great example of a big SA Shiraz in the Penfolds style. Will age well. Having not bought much Pennies in ages, this was good enough for me to split a case with a mate. In 10+ years time when I crack it with a mid-week steak I somewhat doubt I'll be thinking I overpaid or should have got something else for my $30 bottle. However, that's the beauty of wine....everyone is different :)

In 10+ years Bin 28 may have a RRP of $100+ and $30 will feel like a bargain

The Bin 311 isn't Far off the mark at $30 either, I think it may just be the start though

For a limited time, access special member pricing on 12 bottle collections of Kalimna® Bin 28 Shiraz 2017 and Bin 311 Chardonnay 2017.* Available for $360 per mixed or straight dozen (RRP $600) for a limited time only.
If i had access to this deal, I would buy the bin 28 @ $30 per bottle.

$30 IMHO is at the very top end of what either wine is worth plus I wouldn’t really want 6 of either. Some Kalimna vintages are better than others. My palate has changed though tbh and I rarely ever feel like drinking big SA Shiraz anymore which is a shame because I have a bit of it in the cellar. It will probably all sit there until it’s very old which is probably not a bad thing

$30 for Bin 28 isn't too bad. Funny to see Penfolds come crawling back to their local market offering reasonable prices for a change now that China is giving them some push back. It seems they have forgotten Aussie drinkers and taken them for granted while chasing the Chinese market. I wouldn't buy just yet as I still think there's plenty of room for Penfolds to drop their pants further on pricing.

Has anyone won anything even half decent with that BWS cooler promotion? The best I have done is a couple of single cans of sailor jerry rum. The $3 brand bucks is a complete waste of time as the brands are junk.

I used to buy a lot of Penfolds for the cellar up to 10 years ago. I've barely bought any for years now. TWE pricing in the last decade has been outrageous and their attitude that they could charge what they want because China will take what they send is biting them now and deservedly so. TWE's policy of blocking discounting over the years has always been borderline restrictive. I hope they are left with a hell of a lot of stock.

$30 isn't bad for Kalimna which is a decent red. It's OK for 311 which is an acceptable chardy, but it's long been well and truly over priced. I saw Dan's offering 389 for $80 recently and it;s been around for $85 for a while here and there.

A bit of patience might see some reasonable discounting of TWE's Penfolds range for once. I might have to give in a buy some but I'll wait for now.

Agree with Bin 28 and 311 valuations, ok price for $30 but wasn’t cheap enough to entice me to buy, especially when so many better wines have been flooding the market heavily discounted this year. I bet Penfolds are hurting from Chinese wine ban and if it goes on for longer they’ll have to eventually offload some of their premium reds with decent discounts.

I got a beer can - Ballistic Beer - Hawaiian Haze - otherwise i've got nothing the past 5 days straight.
