Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

They don't use AusPost in South Australia.
They use a private courier.

I had over 15 orders last year, and it's the same bloke who delivers to me.

Maybe interstate it's different.

Are you just using a random address in the Dan Murphy stores suburb? Waiting for confirmation and redirecting online to your address? I'm willing to give it a go and see if it works for me.

I'm just worried about losing the wine, as in AusPost picks up package and then won't return it to the store?

If the address you use by chance is someone else's, won't it show up in their AusPost app? I thought it's assigned to your address? Just trying to think of worse case scenarios. 😂😂😂
I admit I've been using a relative's actual address, so that if the gift thing fails all isn't lost.

Tasting notes?
Took a bottle of Simi Sonoma Cab Sav to a BYO last night to try it out. I found it to be medium bodied, more elegant than Coonawarra probably closer to MR style except there was not even a hint of any eucalyptus/herbaceousness that traditionally found in both Coonawarra and MR. Nice dark fruits on the palate, long finish that I enjoyed and grippy chalky tannins. Overall I thought it was a very well made wine and perfectly balanced. Should age well as alcohol is 13.5% and the Diam cork was used.

I would grab more if I happen to pass FC store but would not go out of my way to get it (I was in the area at the time so thought I would grab a couple to try). It still displayed $28 price on the shelf but scanned for $10 at the counter.

Nant Bourbon and Sherry casks as a bundle $231.98 at Boozebud, for new customers $211.88 incl. delivery with BESTBUD and further 7% with Shopback.
I wouldn't touch Nant products with a barge pole after their infamous history.

For those who don't know the background......

I am in Beecroft VC, it scans $40, do they fix the error?

At my local FC this arvo it scanned as $10 but overwritten by cashier to $15.. They did have a clearance yellow sticker as $15 in this store though. I'm in VIC

Same here at Forestville, NSW - sticker shows $15, scans initially at $10 but final price reverts to $15. Grabbed a couple to try

Finewineco mystery packs

Big bold ShirazWho Am I? My name comes from surfers slang in the 60's. I am big, bold and call the beloved Barossa Valley home. I am deep brooding purple to black in colour and am 14.4% ABV

The palate is rich, powerful and penetrating. The wine sling-shots a mouthful of flavour across your tongue and you are left with many succulent layers of spicy and dark fruit that flow. It is holding plenty in reserve and the tannins are fruitful but with a nervy persistence. This really has a strong core but comes across in waves and there is an evenness in this wine and it really is quite a ride. There is so much here to like and this will age brilliantly for the long haul. It's just so well balanced as a young wine from a great vintage.

RRP: $372 | FWC PRICE: $220

Pinot

Who Am I? I grew up in the Adelaide Hills. My name comes from a popular board game. On the palate I explode with black cherry and smell of cherry cola. I have also been told I go well with Peking Duck.

Aromas of cherry cola, rose petals and spice erupt from the glass. On the palate, the wine reveals a berry fruit explosion of black cherry and cranberry, with touches of balsamic and earth tones. The dry, savory long finish indicates that this is a food wine, and one which would pair marvelously with Peking Duck from Chinatown.

RRP: $252 | FWC PRICE: $145

There's more

After 2 years of negotiation, 2022's biggest 'Mystery' deal is FINALLY here Lucas.

A true icon. A global powerhouse. $120 worth of old-vine Barossa Shiraz for a mind-bending $39.99/btl.

A near impossible price for a winery so revered we can't mention the name >> twc-wine.com.au/50BZFAn

Possibly Thorn-Clark Ron Thorn Shiraz.

edit: looks like Tielec came to the same conclusion in Dec:

Hi all apologies, I know this might not be the right place, but I would love your input.
My 130 bottle wine fridge has passed away today, and I am looking for recommendations. I am not in a financial position to blow 4K on a Vintec, so I was wondering if you might have any alternative recommendations?

Thanks.

My vinovault has worked flawlessly for 5+ years. It was cheap too. Only thing I don't like about my model is that the shelf spacing doesn't always fit Aussie bottles.
