Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot 99 Points for 2021 and 2022 was a pretty good year and the Merle is only produced in exceptional vintages.

"If there is a better Riesling made in Australia this decade, I want to know about it. $55 might seem hefty for a local Riesling but in world terms, this is criminally cheap. This is so close to perfect, it deserves full points but I think it might just get even better and I need the wiggle room."

I just got an email from Wild Duck Creek winery - they have a very limited number of 6 packs 2013 Springflat Shiraz for $480 a pack.

"Intensely inky dark red with a purple hue. Hugely aromatic, with layers of black and red fruits mixed with cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. The palate is densely packed with dark fruit, delightful oak spice, dense tannins from small berries and a lovely acid line cleansing the finish. This wine still has at least 10 years of improvement in it. A perfect accompaniment for a cold winters night over the next decade.

There are tiny amounts of a few other wines available in the shop too until sold out.

Vintage Note....

2013 was a very dry and warm vintage. The richness of the wines and the abundance of tannins speak volumes to low yields, small berry sizes, and warmer fermentation temperatures due to high ambient temperatures.

Not for faint hearted and it is a Great winery!
