Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Taking a punt on this - shiraz

Also Cab Sauv and Chardonnay options

Possibly intended for export originally

Thanks for the Qantas OPOH code - that's a great price. Even better than the 10+2 deal on langtons which I hit go on last week for '19 which works out about $28 a bottle depending on value put to the Underhill (link if anyone interested - https://www.langtons.com.au/p/langt...-underhill-12-pack-mv-case/105766-MV-305.html)

Assuming the 'Shiraz' code was one off to the OPOH and not part of a wider promotion?
I can't fathom the way you guys are all jumping on this and making me think it was maybe ok to give in to my wine purchasing dopamine cravings... well, addiction isn't ok and I hope you buyers all fully appreciate you're talking HUNTER RED here.

I am not a huge fan of a typical Hunter shiraz (medium/weak bodied, earthy and leathery), but OPOH is seemingly an exception to the rule, fuller bodied, luscious. I saw that Langtons deal and probably would be more tempted if they included Dry Red No1 (similar RRP) instead.

OPOH 2021 reviews

Huon Hooke 95 points Gold

Medium-deep red with a tinge of purple and reserved aromas that are subtly earthy, Epicy, red and dark fruited, the palate medium-full bodied and firm with lovely tannins that provide support without being too firm to preclude immediate enjoyment.
Deep-set dark-berry flavours persist throughout a lengthy finish. Delicious shiraz. 22 JUN 2022
2022-2039

JH 97 points Gold
Separate parcels hand picked and destemmed, three-day cold soak then open fermented, 11 months' maturation in French oak (25% new).

Curious labelling, as the Old Paddock and Old Hill vineyards are 500m apart and quite distinct. The French oak is more obvious than that of its siblings, but it's easily carried by the mouth-watering acidity of its red and black cherry/berry fruits.

Mount Pleasant O.P. & O.H. Vineyard (Old Paddock & Old Hill) Shiraz 2021
Posted on 24 May 2022

The new Mount Pleasant cellar door is pretty fancy, and perhaps in contrast to the fairly plain (understated/minimalist is polite) labels adorning these new releases from Mount P.

Violets and liquorice, a little earth and biscuit, boysenberry and lovely juicy blue and red fruit flavour. Medium-bodied, almost light and frisky, but ripe and sporting a quiet hunter earthiness, so fresh and lively, with a long finish. It's restrained, but carries the message of the vineyard so well. Will be outstanding with time. Has perfume and carriage, though the 2021 vintage is one that's sotto voce, for sure.

Rated: 95 Points
Tasted : May22
Alcohol: 14%
Price: $55

The 21 from Qantas also appears to be better rated than the 19 from Langtons

Another day promising myself to not buy, another day seeing the light again! Agree, seems a far better deal than all the VM spam. Thanks for heads up once again @olympicwiz

Also, you can get it in a 6 pack rather than 12 and the code still works for $24.50 USING THIS LINK BELOW (edit)

I can't find the 2021 6-pack or reduce the cart down to a 6-pack without the cart removing the OPOH altogether.

Might have to give this a miss.

This is what works for me. Using the link provided by olympicwiz, the page shows 12 bottles but the price shows 330 for 55 per bottle. Without changing anything, after clicking add, I see 6 bottles are added to the cart. After proceeding to check out, it still shows 6 bottles in the cart, then after applying the SHIRAZ code it finally goes down to 147 for 6 bottles.

It does indeed still work as outlined. And can even be done at $132 with 10% PC discount.

It must have been a glitch in the system as the SHIRAZ code was working on the 6 pack last night but unfortunately it now isn’t.

Well played all. I might have gone the 6 instead of the 12 had I known this cool trick (which was an impressive find RL). But I expect I'll have mo difficultly find takers for my excess.

I also discovered I could maybe have had them cheaper with the $50 points club voucher I had lying there - if I'd noticed and it would stack...

As for the further 10% mentioned - seems that's points club plus only, not basic PC, which I am.

Fun times, thanks all
