David Jones: AMEX to Latitude

I contacted Amex today regarding my DJs card and was given all this to transfer to Platinum Edge:
First year free saving $195.
$200 Credit for travel etc.
Spend $3000 in first 3 months and receive 15000 reward points.
Outstanding annual fee on DJs card will be calculated and credited to my new PE card.
Current MR points on DJs card will be transferred to my new PE card.
Outstanding balance owing on DJs card will be transferred to new PE card.

For me this is a great deal as my wife has a primary card as well so we got the deal twice. I think David Jones and Latitude have made it so American Express can't say too much in their email to current cardholders unless they contact amex direct and ask to cancel the contact to Latitude.
Which number did you contact? I'm being run around in circles?

Explain your situation and they will put you through to an Australian representative. My girl was fantastic.

They said because it is a David Jones AMEX Platinum QANTAS and said they can't transfer it to anything but a QANTAS Discovery which is useless since I have a QANTAS American Express Ultimate Card.

They refused to put me through to an Australian Representative. I just ended up cancelling both my cards as I'm reducing my travel anyway and I might as well just stick to my MasterCard.

Mine is being closed lol. I actually haven't used it in seven years, so Amex have just informed me my DJs card due to lack of use is being closed

My DJs Amex is free for life as part of an incentive to upgrade from the Storecard. Won't be keeping the DJs Latitude card if they start charging an annual fee for it; I have other points earning cards

I successfully transferred my card from a David Jones to an Amex Essentials Card online.

There is an option to transfer your DJ Card under Personal Cards. It says “if you are an existing card holder click here“ at the end of the description. I wanted a No Annual Fee , as my DJs card was. Still have Member Rewards albeit at a lower rate. There was no way I would have a Latitude card with an annual fee. Received email today saying card is on its way.

The question I have is what airline loyalty programs will the new latitude card transfer across too? I’m hoping Qantas is an option?

I bet Virgin will be in the mix.

Even though DJ’s stop offering the Qantas option on sign up for quite a while now. I’ve always had that option since I got the card in 2013 for the past eleven years when you could select it.

My reading of the FAQs is that Qantas won't be an option.

After reading them again it sounds like that is the case sadly. 😟

Had been a good earner with the supermarkets and petrol with the conversion rate the last eleven years I’ve had the card.

Well I do have a virgin account that I’ve hardly used if that’s a future airline option with the new card.

Store card seems to be ineligible for transfer using the online links on the Essentials and Platinum Edge pages. Hopefully they provide an exit path when I can get through to the right person on the phone.

I have a Heritage card. DJs and Amex never came good on the promise of special offers for Heritage cardholders. Have been a store card holder for ~30 or more years. This is the end of the road, not going to Latitude. And that they haven’t given me details of the offer prior to the last date (so far) before Amex hands our data over in March does not instil any level of confidence.

EDIT: Confirmed that store cards are not eligible for product transfer.

Success-received my new Amex Essentials in the post after applying online and transferring my David Jones Amex card

Got an offshore representative and didn't give me any option other than cancel my DJs Amex and I go apply for another Amex card online myself.

Failed to acknowledge I have other Amex cards and didn't do any SAC (save-a-card) prompt...

Doesn’t seem much different other than 55 days vs 44 interest free and as yet unknown rewards transfer partners.

Was just looking at this, and there doesn't appear to be any mention of the rewards program or how (or what for) points can be redeemed.

e: The card benefits and rewards appear to be exactly the same as the previous DJ Amex cards, so now I'm wondering if they're still some roundabout Latitude-issued Amex cards?

further edit: no, the pictures very clearly show the Mastercard logo. derp.

DJ customer service just advised full information will be published on their website tomorrow (12th March)

Can anyone see if you can transfer points to Krisflyer or velocity. It says 3 points per dollar at servos and supermarkets but not sure what the 3 points can do. I've already switched to amex plat Edge for a great deal for 12 months but if I can double dip after that it may be worthwhile.

The page on the DJs website hasn’t changed today, and the Latitude help pages indicate that points transfer partners don’t exist, as in the “Redeeming Points via the David Jones Points Hub” support article they only list gift cards, points for credit or a “Purchase Eraser” which is clearly just a points for credit on exact purchase amounts.

I was planning to transfer to the essentials card too, but interestingly AMEX have discontinued this card as of 11th March. Had disappeared from the website and confirmed with online chat agent its been discontinued
