Well I am happy as Larry down here in sunny MEL today - the clock in my car is once again displaying the correct time!

We are all safe over in WA with no time change. We just need to do our business an hour earlier with some of the eastern states.

So what states are ahead now, and when do the others change over?

I prefer no daylight savings in WA because I get up earlyish and finish work by about 2 most days...

They all change at the same time. Nsw, Vic, tas, act, sa

I think all the DST jurisdictions are now aligned. Theory being a wonderful thing and all, would suggest:
QLD remains on AEST
NT remains on ACST
WA remains on AWST except the towns of Caiguna, Eucla, Madura and Mundrabilla who have given themselves their own time zone CWST.
TAS, VIC, ACT and NSW are now all on AEDT (except Broken hill who like to believe they're crow eaters and as such are on ACDT and Lord Howe who are snobbish enough for their own time and is currently on LHDT).
SA is on ACDT except for Border Village who have also chosen the unofficial CWST.

Of course we also have:
Norfolk Island which has remained on NFT,
Christmas Island which has remained on CXT,
Cocos Keeling Islands which has remained on CCT,
Heard and McDonald Islands don't work off set times due to the usual population of nil but usually follow Mawson Base,
the ant artic bases prefer to use time zones which make communication with the mainland easier rather than following the sun (or lack thereof in the winter) with Mawson GMT +5, Davis on CXT and Casey on AWST.
Macquarie Island is on AEDT despite daylight saving being a bit of overkill in the summer and their geographical location being more akin to NZ.

I think I have included all of us? Anyone I missed?

Got off the train from Ballarat at ~22:30 last night, got back to my accommodation at 23:00, it was 00:30 by the time I was in bed, and I was up at 06:30 so I could get out to MEL in time for QF814 this morning. I was planning on a somewhat-manageable 6 hours of sleep, but instead I got 5. Thanks, daylight savings. #firstworldproblems

(In general, I dislike DST - as someone who's not really a morning person, I appreciate having the additional sunlight in the earlier hours to wake me up.)

Something I've never worked out is the 'I'm not a morning person' thing (not having a go just genuine question)...what does it change? Don't most people have blinds etc in their bedrooms? Malign it dark irrespective of the time of day

Fwiw I do enjoy daylight savings as it give me extra of a night for a run etc. In get up at 6am so nil effect on that front.

Some people's blinds or curtains don't work as well as they might like. I'm fine with some light but if it's too bright, and starts to heat up, then I won't be able to sleep.

On that front, if sleep was what I wanted in the morning, then I guess DST would be good for me.

My ex needed the room pitch black, so we always found ways to cover the alarm clock and tv lights etc in hotel rooms.

In my particular living situation, I can and do get away with leaving my (very effective) curtains wide open.

Lord Howe Is...?

Is anyone a morning person?

When I was in Sydney with daylight savings I can do a full day's work in Sydney and then head out and play 18 holes of golf. Or just practice if that is all I wanted to do.

The other way round is impossible as the last thing I want to do after a game of golf is 7.5 hours of work in the office.

But it wasn't just golf. Mow the lawns. Water the garden. Barbeques in the park. Kicking a ball around with work colleagues. Etc....

The time on my computer just ticked over to DST and I was like....WTH? Since when was the sun still shining at 7pm? I totally forgot about this.
