Delta Comfort Plus SC earn with VA

Our neighbour was a Michigan native - and the nicest person you could hope to meet. We are yet to visit this magnificent state, but America remains my favourite destination in the whole world. It's why most of our flights are to the States, so diverse, so unpredictable and yet so familiar.
I am jealous of anyone who flies there regularly and I simply can't wait for August! And it won't really matter what class we fly in. I already feel privileged to fly in the first place.

Just thought I would update you.

I have been chasing up this query weekly about "w" class earning post 16 May.

Velocity just called me to advise it is confirmed that Delta Comfort Plus "W" fare class will earn PE earn rates as per the current. He also advised that the chart will be updated to reflect this change soon.

He confirms that this has been noted on my account that I have been advised as such.

I will / would still proceed with caution until the website is updated however I am more confident now that the PE earn will be reflected.

I do have a "W" flight in June so I can put it to the test.

How are the C+ prices comparing with first class? Delta often have great first class fares which can often be cheaper than some Y fares.

newmarket I have about 15 flights ( inc family ) over June, July and August and most of them were approx $200 usd dearer in first.

I try and actively manage the process so that I can achieve gold again or platinum by "just enough" ........maybe 10 flights could be done in C+ and thats a saving for me approx $2000usd. I just did not need to spend the extra.

But yes, I normally mix and match to suit the SC earn and book first where possible.

I managed to find some decently priced YYZ-LAS (via SLC) in September in F around $2300 for 4 of us (Oneway)
should be a nice little SC earner

While some sources are more credible than others and with many VA matters you have been accurate - is there any public documentation on this? (This has not changed.)

I thought it would be public by now ... well on the website at least .... one of the last things i did before i walked out the door for the last time ;)

Given the prices, it's a pretty nice sweet spot for Status Credit earn.

Earning Extra Status On Delta Comfort+ in the USA - Too Good to Be True?

Hello all,

First time poster, not sure if this has been addressed.

Today I booked some Delta Comfort Plus (Fare Class W) seats out of MSO heading to EWR via SLC.

I was keen to see how much extra a Full Fare Economy ticket would be in the Main Cabin, so I could earn some additional Status. The Delta website is rather good and allows you to search by a certain fare class (or higher) so I double checked along side Velocity's Status Credit Earn Fare Classes table and started checking. The prices that were coming back to book a Full Fare ticket were astronomical (around $800US) yet the Comfort Plus tickets were $300-500US.

On paper it appears that Delta Comfort Plus is treated as a Premium Economy ticket by Velocity, thus earns additional status credits to say a Full Fare Economy ticket. My mileage came out to 2396miles, which in Premium Economy earns a very tidy 60 status credits. The cheapest ticket offered was $276US and the fare class put it in the Discount Economy Zone (20 Status Credits), yet I paid $309US for a fare class that put me into the Premium Economy Zone (60 Credits). 40 additional status credits for a mere $33US. Seems crazy considering what 40 Credits will cost you in Australia.

I spent quite a lot of time looking at this today, and obviously booked it, but I feel like it's too good to be true. Has anyway got any learnings on earning Status on Delta's Comfort Plus? I'm flying May 23 and will happily report back. If it delivers as it should do (referring to all of Virgin's earning tables in depth) could be a great way to boost Status for those who are heading to the US. If it doesn't, well the additional legroom and free grog will be a consolation.

FWIW, I hope they fix it.

However, in the mean time have you looked at how little more the First/Business fares may be? I rarely bother with coach on DL.
I, likewise, never bother with coach on DL.

This is actually a bad thing IMHO. In researching some fares recently, i've noticed that the introduction of W on specific routes has jacked up the price of F significantly, in many cases, the F fare post-W introduction was higher than what they are now selling the W fare for.

Obviously, YMMV, but it's not all good from what i've found. My research, as always, continues though ;)

Yeah it seems like cheap delta flights are totally hit and miss, I ended up getting 500SC for $2440 of flights coming up in September, seemed like good value to me.

That's near $5/SC. Not great value by 'run' standards in the USA, but cheaper than you can typically find SC's for in Australia.

There used to be 100SC's for around $250USD on DL, but the introduction of the W fare has killed it (that was in F, now F is substantially more expensive on that route, and W is more than the old F was).

Swings and roundabouts, you just have to keep searching :)

Yeah the coughpy AUD doesn't help, but flights from YYZ-LAS were expensive in Y so wasn't too much more for F and I figure its an easy way of picking up 500SC (4 tickets) which along with the BNE-SYD-LAX-BNE and LAX-SEA should be a decent SC earner when family pooling is taken into account.
