Denali Demo and Rebuild

The cables are the sub board

Is that what we used to call the 'meter box'? The box outside where all the switches for various circuits (power x many, cooling, hot water etc) are and, in my case still, where the power company can access to read consumption & bill me.

I guess these days, its done remotely, so doesn't need to be outside accessible? Or is it something different?

Could I respectfully suggest that the door from garage to house have a deadlock on it (I can only discern a regular handle - maybe wrong) - if someone gets into your garage, an closed the garage door, its a vulnerability.

Meter boxes are outside but because houses are a lot bigger these days with more electrical equipment the circuit breakers don't fit into a typical meter box

Bringing in the circuit breakers inside the house is also better. No need to go outside if something trips

I have a house, garage and shed sub board

Looks lilac to me🤣

Oh, shes blue 🤣. But youre not wrong, the hint of mauve (as my husband says) is important. Im not a fan but its not a big deal either. Its paint, can always be repainted (and might be at some point).

We still have a meter box outside and it has a smart metre so no more inspections. We were charged 19 cents last quarter.

And we were talking about deadlocks yesterday as I know garage/that door is a weak spot for entry. Was saying we should get the bolt thingy on the internal garage door to make it extra secure each night, especially as the front of the house/upstairs could have anyone wandering around and we wouldnt know it so also setting up sensor alarms.

My SS and hubby talking this morning (Im in the office).

SS commented that some things Im picky on. Well, he didnt use the word picky but he was saying some things Im like, this cupboard door is 3mm out or that a 2.4mtr internal door has a very small scratch way up the top or that one brick out of 10,000 bricks is annoying me but for big ticket items like a decision/change to be made on the facade or bulk head now needed for aircon or a tiling decision needing to be made or the garage is now blue Im meh, I dont care.

Our garage door (the actually roller door) has a dead bolt. It automatically slides into the locked position when the door is closed. We also have a deadbolt on the external door, so its much easier for us to leave the internal door unlocked without worry.

I also got a lock for the meter box at one of our rental properties after kids started pranking the meter boxes in the area
This is a lock with a key that is accessible by the meter readers not a standard padlock

Just google meter box lock and insert the electrical grid operator in the search. "Ausgrid meter box lock"

Hubby sent me pic of our laundry being painted.... I emailed SS advising that the painters have gone rogue (which is better than rouge) and looks like they are painting the entire inside Dulux Alley.

The media room is suppose to be Dulux Niche and the living area, kitchen, pantry, laundry ect is suppose to be Blue Bayou Qtr, which looks white until you put something white against it and then you see a hint of blue. SS said he will investigate and advise but I know my colours, the laundry is too dark to be Bayou Qtr. Yes, we are the house of blues.

Hubby likes blue, including the towels, I dont fight him on it as I got my kitchen, storage and smart toilet 🤣

Yesterday our SS texted, asking for pics of our garage. Hubby sent them.

Then there was a phone call from our SS, telling us that our garage door can be installed but our garage is very cluttered with bathroom stuff, tiles, gyprock ect and the installers won't work in that much clutter..... say nothing more, hubby said, who phoned me to come home to play Cinderella. We moved bathroom tubs inside, reduced 4 half pallets to 2 out of the way pallets, moved bags of mortar/cement and boxes of tiles, tossed rubbish and swept up.

Today our Deep Ocean garage door was installed. We've never had a automatic garage door before. The installers were impressed it was so clean. 🤣

Then the garage installers were going home because due to the Optus outage, they had no GPS to get to their next job.

It's great when you get such timely information and can actually do something to problem solve rather than no information but just delays.

It's because we're in the unique situation of living next door and we do our best not to bother him about stupid stuff so our SS knows we just want the tradies to keep showing up and work.

First time we met him we said come to us with a problem and solution options and we'll make decisions quickly. He knows we would do what it took to get tradies 🤣... we're that desperate at this part of the build. Hubby was even carrying scaffolding out of the house the other day with our SS.

Ensuite French Navy vanity installed. In hindsight I could have made it a little bit longer but I tell myself that I can put a small bin in that space now.

We also got our other vanities and shaving cabinets delivered and they're in the garage for installation.

Our SS was also told that something had been completed and he asked us and I sent pics, it hadnt been, so he can get back to contractor. SS has on site intel that vendors arent aware of 🤣

When the work is completed, will you need a council or state government inspection and then something like a ‘certificate of occupation’?

Yes. We get a temp Occupancy Cert at hand over and we have to complete landscaping, driveway ect to get perm OC. So thats our next stressor as ive contacted about 10 landscaping companies and only two responses. One was, Pay $5K here for designer and then we'll talk and the other was more of a bloke that people know but he doesnt handle any of the paperwork, council stuff ect. So Im going to get into it again in a couple of weeks because I got tired of chasing these people. Business must be good for them

Nothing big has been happening, I wonder if its the final push for other builds to get their keys before Christmas, which is why tradies have been elsewhere. Im OK with that, people want their homes before Chrissy.

But we've had small things and quick visits so there are things on the program sheet being done.

- Electricians cut out the tiles for power points for the smart toilets and where the shaving cabinets will be (power point inside cabinet for toothbrushes).
- Tiles delivered for alfresco area. Hubby helped the delivery guy by getting a pallet and loading tiles no longer needed so he could pick them up.
- Indoor scaffolding picked up.
- External window and stacker door trim completed.
- Visit by Stegbar.... to measure for shower screens or linen and pantry shelving fitout?? No idea but he was here for a bit.
- Our basins are delayed and this has delayed our benchtop installation.

I also hired someone of AirTasker to clean up our site so all builders rubbish now in the collection pile and then I Roundup'd the weeds. Ive been dragging the big bits to the piles since we started building but this was the small stuff and he raked up as well

And.... I finally have my super secret builders key. Ive been asking for one as not all trades have a super secret builders key and we have to show them how we break in but our SS finally gave me one.

Well.... he didnt give it to me, he gave it to hubby and they agreed on the super secret spot it will be kept in but I say its my key

Hubby: Dont give it to her, she'll go into other peoples random builds
Me: I dont even go into my own build, why would I go into other peoples?

We have some bathroom fittings and we're paying a variation to have bathrooms and garage repainted to a white 🤬

Yes, we have a corner tub, there will be handrails as well. Shower heads are tall enough for us, no repeat of staying in Japan and having to bend down to get my head under water ;).

No pics yet but plumbers here again this morning and making noise inside and our tiler just showed up for alfresco tiling.

Poor neighbour across the road (who we now call Bob) was having multiple and loud phone calls while pacing in front of his build.

My hubby is trying to be inconspicuous while standing on the footpath to hear what hes saying. He was met by the dog walker from up the road who accepted the challenge and crossed the road to get closer....

The build about 10 houses up from us have tradies today and the neighbour next to Bob is building a granny flat and also have tradies. We all have tradies but Bob... who handed over his site last Dec and only just got gyprock last week. I can only imagine how upset his family is, I would be in tears.

Meanwhile the house behind us and 3 houses to the left (dog walker's rear neighbour) and the house across the road and down a small lane way are preparing for handover! Happy days for them!

They are forecasting torrential rain here in Sydney in a couple of days and Im glad we're at lockup. Today its raining and a house across the road is having their granny flat slab poured. My tiler was here yesterday and today and finished the alfresco tiling and a couple of cracked tiles, hubby basically picked concrete looking tiles to go over the concrete.

We're hoping our benchtop arrives this week but Im told theres a delay in our kitchen sink. Our island kitchen sink is almost 800mm long (3mtr island). We did originally pick a normal sized sink but when we saw this in a store I said to hubby, "Dont hate me, but I love this" and he agreed. Not that I wash much by hand but its good to have something that can take a blender jug or large pan. I will have to get a drainer thingy that sits on the bottom. Theres another normal sink and drainer in the butler section.
