Denali Demo and Rebuild

Our island kitchen sink is almost 800mm long (3mtr island). We did originally pick a normal sized sink but when we saw this in a store I said to hubby, "Dont hate me, but I love this" and he agreed. Not that I wash much by hand but its good to have something that can take a blender jug or large pan.

Great decision. I also chuck most things in the dishwasher, but there are always pans and baking dishes to soak first (at leas at my place!). I have 2 small sinks, so lots of splashed water. :(

Benchtop spam but I love it so much.

Our old kitchen was the size of your new butlers space so this kitchen will be amazing and I'm so excited for it to be ours! So much space and storage. We went with Caesarstone Intense White, 40mm for all except laundry and vanity, which is 20mm. We also went for 950mm height, so just a little higher than standard and I could feel the difference when standing next to it, no more stooping when chopping ect. Ignore the paint on the walls, its the wrong colour and to be repainted.

A neighbour of mine has a kitchen and butler's pantry set-up very similar to yours. The Mrs does all her kitchen preparation in the BP, just brings things out to serve or put in the oven. At any time I might pop in, the kitchen looks like a set from Vogue. Not a crumb out of place.

Well thats never going to happen with me! The butlers section is Mr Denali's space for all his hoarding of vitamins, protein powders and whatever else he buys in bulk (you saw the tshirts as an example yesterday 🤣 ). He cant help himself. Its his space for his blender and soda stream he wants.

I refuse to be shoved from the smallest room in the old house to the smallest room in the new house for cooking. Im looking forward to making use of the island bench with lots of baking that needs room to stretch out, knead ect.

Why I didnt go with a super clean white benchtop, it shows everything

My crumbs should be hidden by the benchtop we chose.

Yesterday on Insta I saw a funny vid about tips for picking the perfect colour floorboards. The male picked a hair from his female Partners head 😳 then held the hair against all the different colour panels. There was one where her hair completely disappeared. Bingo. One can only imagine how much hair she was shedding (🤢) for the guy to want to hide it.

It's close to impossible to clean behind the standalone bathtub. How to do?

Yes the bigger the better. Do you remember if they have a 900mm sink?
900 x 450

I wanted the to wall tub but it was an extra $3K and the budget was hemorrhaging at that point.

We're going to have a weekly cleaner so I'm sure they know how to get to that space. I've seen extendable microcloth dusters that'll do the trick

Yesterday our door handles, locks, towel rails and mirrored shaving cabinets were installed and today our SS gave us a walk through. We are getting closer but I'm feeling a bit tired that we still have a couple of months to go, I have to remind myself we only started in April so we're doing well. We also gifted our SS a bottle of whiskey for Christmas as he's taking a well deserved rest.

Was very surprised to see our dunny removed today. Excited as its a huge sign that the build is near completion BUT we're not that near completion yet. A quick text to my SS who followed up and the dunny was due for 18th Feb pick up, not 18th Dec. So I'm guessing it'll be returned soon 🤣

On the plus side, we're forecasting for end of Feb completion (fingers crossed). Our contract said end of Feb but we always hoped and pushed for end of Dec to keep it close to on track as possible. I wonder how further along we would be if we didnt lose July to scaffolding and boof-head roofers but 8-10 weeks to go isnt too long.

On Saturday we had the gyprock people back to sand walls and Sunday we had a guy that came and removed the covers from the weep holes and touched up a couple of mortar spots.
