Its clunky AF - you set up an acct that includes yr passport details, yet you have to put yr passport details in again when you set up a DPD.

Overall, I give it a minus 0.5 on the it’s-for-cough scale…

and Emirates LHR check-in this eve only wanted to see the DPD summary, not whether we had actually completed (and had accepted) all the various parts of the damn thing. It’s a shocker and I suspect will go the way of various other govt technology. Think the covid proximity app..

Came back via SYD on Friday and no mention of the DPD. I battled with it and to me it’s yet another dog of a government designed form.

The DPD Summary, lists everything has been submitted i.e. the values entered, so you cant get the DPD summary if you haven't completed and submitted it.

Its not a great app, but it is also not difficult to use, a couple minutes per trip.

that’s interesting - had a txt message from Dept of Home Affairs on arrvl Dubai (having completed DPD in UK, wIth all sections ‘completed’,summary saved, DHA txt mssg saying all info completed, and being OK’d at EK check-in) to be told ‘your DPD is incomplete, you must complete and submit before you check-in for your flight’

Riiight… so reckon I’ll revise my original it’s-for-cough mark down to -0.6 for this clunky piece of govt electronica, and just see what happens on arrvl Aust..

Does anyone know if you can complete the DPD and attach the vaccine certificate and passport page jpeg when using an Apple iPAD? I hope to put as much detail into the DPD 7 days prior to departure, but 72 hours before actual flight I will not have a computer and just an iPAD. Thanks for any suggestions. William

I did mine on an iPad mini. I was on a VPN I don’t know if that stuffed it up but I had to do it a number of times. You have to do a selfie too.
It’s a little hard to predict whether you will be one of those that finds it easy or one of those that finds it time consuming, And then they don’t ask for it.

We got that message just after we had checked in to our SIN-BNE flight. Basically ignored it. Nothing said on arrival and we went straight through.

We got that, then two days after arriving back in Aus, received the completed message 🤷🏻‍♀️

And on return this morng to Syd we are handed the usual customs and Qtine entry card and filled that in anyway.

So what is the effectiveness of the DPD when it’s clunky, doesn’t populate data that you have already provided to set up an acct, can’t be amended, isn’t reliable in its confirmations, and seems to form no part of one’s official entry to the place ? Sheesh…

Thank you for the reply and comments. Technically, on an iPad can you successfully choose the vaccination certificate from Photos or Pages when you are still inside the DPD app, and have it attach or upload to the DPD form without being dead-ended or stuck? Thanks again, William

You do not upload the certificate, you use the app to scan the QR code on the international vaccination certificate, so easiest if you have a printout (if not you would need to point camera on the iPad at the QR code displayed on your i-phone) and the app pulls the data from the govt directly and pre-populates all the vaccination details, you then scroll right to the bottom to submit.

Similarly you use the app to take your selfie and to take a photo of your passport page and scan the chip in your passport - you don't do these steps outside of the app then try to upload.

Thank you so much! That makes complete sense to me and I appreciate your taking the time to explain it so clearly. Happy Travels! William

I hope you are around in about two weeks when we need to do this. And everyone else who has negotiated it.
