I suspect it was dumped. Like all cats innately toilet trained. We live on semi rural acreage and it was poorly when it arrived in the house. Don’t know how it found the doggie door at back of house and got the courage to come in. It would have smelt the dogs and cat scents

I don't know if it's innate, but puss could have learnt from its mother before the adoption.

From what I've read, it's when kittens are quite young. Similar thing for cats bonding with humans. If they have positive exposure (patting, playing, feeding) to people before the kittens are 8 weeks old, they'll relate well to their owners.

Innate is to bury it, probably not many other places around the house where it can do that!
A problem can be urine, which I have with my male cat.

Daughter has male cat. Problem is urinary retention which can be deadly. He gets blocked up when anxious

Brother and sister cat getting even more comfortable when I told them it was time to get up this morning. Boots, the bigger cat, I think was daring me to move him rolling into this position.
