Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Toby ( see msgs #450, 455) is all grown up now: a couple of months ago he decided to enter a beauty and popularity contest.

He was initially thrilled when the envelope arrived, but less so once he saw it was silver, not gold. And only top 50 :confused:

Make your trip to Hawaii more memorable with this unique experience on the island of Lanai.....

500 Cats Roam Free At This Amazing Cat Sanctuary

If it’s ever been your dream to grow old and be surrounded by hundreds of cats, there’s an island in Hawaii where you can do just that.
Lanai Cat Sanctuary is a paradise for cat lovers. Home to almost 500 friendly felines, the sanctuary provides a home for wild cats found on the small island of Lanai, just off the coast of Maui.

What strange things does your cat eat?
I recently offered Munn the Cat some passion fruit yogurt, she liked it. Also likes some cheeses.
my cat loved cheese - she would be asleep for hours in the front room - open the fridge door and take out milk meat or anything and she wouldn't move - take out the cheese and she would have beaten Usain Bolt down the passage and would wind herself around my legs and whinge until she got some

Our cat is quite partial to smoked salmon and avocado. The salmon she just vacuums but she has to work a bit for the avo as it gets stuck on her teeth and gums, so keeps her occupied for a while.

My current Cat is quite picky. Generally only dry food and premium wet food. The only Cat I have had that wouldn't try to steal something off my dish. I don't mind a bit of sharing with the Cat, but bit worried with my Cat's anxiety.

Tried giving him leftover steak and chicken but refused. However partial to cheese and raw fish. Gave him a whole little fishy before Good Friday which he demolished. Seen him polish off mice and birds he has caught. Eating mice is very crunchy...

Last Cat which was a stray someone abandoned, would happily eat chicken bones. Poor Cat had lived rough, so did anything to survive.

One Cat loved kangaroo meat. Current Cat meh.

The plastic dish rack! Feed me now or I'll eat the dish rack, iPad, phone, milk crate..................
And to add insult, he kept developing an abscess on his lip which the vet diagnosed as an allergy to..........plastic!

Well our little miss has been back to the vet, appetite stimulants and hydromorph, not looking foward to the next few weeks. :(

Pics from various times.

Our old girl had a thing about sitting on Mr L_t_L when he had a morning coffee. Like VPS she could be asleep upstairs and as soon as she heard the coffee machine, she was down ready to sit on his lap. If he was not quick enough she would sit at the chair and will him to come.

Is this your elderly furry friend Cassie? She's a beautiful girl.

Yep, 19 years and 7 months! Every time we think, "this is the end" she bounces back, but unfortunately she can't keep doing this, she is the last of four, can't imagine life without a cat on my lap!

So how does your cat handle the cattery?

Petal goes to the same place every time and even gets the same suite. Once ready to transport her I open the cage and she walks right in with no fuss, but then cries in the car.

Upon arrival at the cattery the staff fuss over her and all know her name (don't know if they know mine but who cares?). I take her to the suite and she starts hissing and carrying on. I take her inside where it is all prepared with food/water and litter box and open the cage.

She has been known to sit inside the open cage for an hour before getting out and settling into her suite. After 24 hours she's ready to receive human visitors and is very happy being fussed over by the staff.

Then coming home it's straight into the cage and crying all the way home where she gets out of the cage immediately and hides not wanting anything to do with me for an hour or two whereupon it's cuddle time.

Oh, and it really is a suite, about the size of a household toilet with a high rest area on top of a climbing pole with external windows as well as a view of the other inmates. :p

Another thing we're going through at the moment is a slight change to her biscuits. The local pet shop is closing and selling lots of stuff at 50% off. She loves her Hills Science Diet biscuits so at that price I'm trying a new flavour (they don't have any of her previous flavour) which so far has been well received.

Once I know she'll eat them I'll buy several bags.

Just a matter of time now, she's heavily sedated, she has been with us for nearly a third of our lives. I guess what makes this worse is that she is the last of four, she is such a sweet little girl, I honestly can't explain how much we love her and how much we will miss her.

Surely this year can't get any worse......................

The End of Days is sad, Cossie. Our thoughs are with you. A little bit of Dante in your time of need which we used this for our Burmese after 21 years...
