Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Yes must be; blue points are the cutest ones. Is he very cuddly?

Very cuddly with his owner, youngest son. Moderately snuggly with me when he chooses to do so, but with MrP he jumps at him to start a game going. Wiggles his rather large rump and launches attacks to get him to play, the cat's rather large rump that is :p

Yes, a blue point. And they use this breed on many of the dry cat food products. Kinda freaky seeing 'his' face in the shops.

Because Barry is a tabby, he's got a face that's very similar to a lot of other cats. Including a friend of mine on Facebook, whose cat is almost identical in the face to Barry, except for the white smudge on Barry's nose.

Quite an handsome chap !
Thank you both for your kind compliments - yes, Barry is handsome and quite singular as cats go - though I think you could say that about all cats! ;)

(though that photo looked much better on my old iPad than it looks here, I might find another)

He's always very sure about what he wants, like a toddler, but he has responded to treat training to an extent - he'll now come in when called in the evenings, but sometimes not immediately. He's nine years old now, and likes to head out in the morning, sleep most of the aternoon in a nice comfy feather doona (or under it, if it is cold), head out again to make sure that things in his domain haven't changed, before being fed and and demanding a warm soft lap to end the evening on.

He certainly is a character - he gets pretty much everything he wants too. ;)
It's the difference between cats and dogs really isn't it. With cats, you are their servant and I don't particularly mind that. This morning, our female is having her desexing stitches removed. We have only had her for one week now, a pet rescue cat from the Lort smith Animal home in North Melbourne. She fears nothing this one, even out grey 4 year old boy who was very hissy at first, but the other night, she was licking his ears. I should post a picture very soon of them both, but animals certainly keep you young no doubt about it.

The only issue I have with her is that she has been the messiest kitty litter attendee we have ever had. She seems to be digging to get to the plastic base before she does her business. Any inexpensive tips out there for this issue. My wife is going nuts with the mess.

I lay out a largish area of newspaper and place the litter tray in the center of the paper.
I learnt the hard way when Munn the Cat was, I assume, in the tray with her rear end hanging out the tray and she left a deposit on the floor. Luckily her tray is in one of our garages and concrete is easy to scrape.

They do have covered kitty litter trays (though not a particularly inexpensive solution). At least it would contain the litter. When she is bigger will she be going outside; if so it will be a temporary problem and lots of newspaper should help.

We have a tray with a curved lip on it. Seems to catch any flying litter. That said, Barry is very lazy in this regard and doesn't even dig a hole to deposit his No1s!

He's so lazy in fact, that once we had the plumbers in, and we were all standing there watching them dig, and when the hole reached about six inches in depth, he sauntered over, positioned himself, and peed in it! (much to my mortification)

I love his thinking, if someone is going to dig a hole then why not use it? Petal isn't much of a digger she expects me to scoop it out very quickly.

Our cat, Didi, who spends most of her day lounging/snoozing outside in her daybed, holds everything all day so that she can come in at dinnertime to use her litter tray. She is a scatterer too.

She likes to share the experience with you :)

Any photos (and not of the litter tray I mean) - looooove cats and now we don't have one at all.
