Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Mr Slinky is a beautiful boy. I think Missy can be quite naughty as well as she was busy putting her front feet on the coffee table to see what food there was and when she became relaxed she jumped up on the kitchen bench :)
She is about 4 and her breeder used her for one litter then sold her. She has a lovely nature for one that (we suspect) was not well socialised.

Do you start feeding a random cat or not?

About a month ago, we noticed a little cat hanging around. It seems like like sleeping under our bottle brush tree/next to concrete (warm?)

We havent fed it or spoken to it but its been about a month now and its still around.

Well I have to answer yes as this is how we got Munn the Cat.

Some people who are attracted to this thread might be interested in the documentary film "Kedi" (Turkish for cat). It focuses on 7 street cats in Istanbul, and the humans that interact with them. I saw this yesterday, and highly recommend it.

We have no pets and hubby doesnt want one but I would be OK with it but I think the idea of vet bills scare him. A friend at work took her dog to a specialist vet at Homebush and it ended up costing the price of a small car.

Feed it, and it will own you.
As my mum says, "if you can't afford the Vet, don't buy the pet".

I get the idea Denali can afford a few vet bills ;)

But cats are often, as a general rule, cheaper than dogs regarding vets, as dogs tend to be a little silly, eating things they shouldn't; and injury prone as they get hip issues, arthritis etc.

There is a bit of a push in Canberra to make the whole city a cat containment zone; varying start dates including 2025. New suburbs are already designated but there is real proof that it's working as there are pet moggies roaming streets there as well.

And Cats have Nine lives! ;)

Warnings that Exelpet Fleaban Insecticidal Spray has made and allegedly in some instances cases killed Cats.

Exelpet Fleaban Insecticidal Spray is set to be removed from sale after the company received a spate of poisoning complaints, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Cat owner Jennie Murray said the effect on one of her pets was instant and required veterinary treatment.

“After following the vague directions, one of my cats instantly started frothing the mouth…,” Ms Murray posted on Facebook.
“Luckily we got to the vets quickly where they were sedated and bathed to remove the product.”
Exelpet Fleaban contains pyrethrin, a natural insecticide from chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium.
While it can be used on cats and dogs, the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has warned that a high concentration of the substance is “highly toxic” to cats.

Spent Sunday watching a My Cat From Hell marathon. Cats suffering anxiety and on anti depressants?

We got the same kind of cat!. Fur is a bit whiter on body but same black face and ears.

Ours is a combo cat - she's a high cat and a low cat. Current favourite hidey hole is a Peroni beer carton on the floor in he corner of the family room and she will stick and swipe her paw out of the box if you come near, or the top shelf on the book case.

I love how fickle cats can be about which spot they will be spending their time.

Kitty spends a lot of his time under the spare bed, or when the sun is on it, on the outdoor seat but occasionally he is persuaded away. I bought a little cat cave from K-Mart recently and popped it in the lounge and he quickly took up almost permanent residence in it for a couple of weeks. One day I took out the cushion to wash it as it was getting manky and he has not been back in it since!

Similarly, in the past he's commandeered a cardboard box on the kitchen floor and I had to leave it there close to 2 weeks and then his love affair with it was over!

Yes. We've noticed exactly the same behaviour. Two weeks seems about right. Maybe it's something to do with moon cycles
