Re: The totally off-topic thread

My cat does that as well, she loves sitting in the window and even at the screen door but hates going outside and has the same reaction.

One thing I really like is that when I open the travelling cage she will walk inside without argument. Very handy when going to the cattery or vet.

Mine will take any opportunity to slip out the door. Usually at night and under the house. And she's deaf, so can't be called.

it would be good if lola liked her travel cage but alas she doesn't.
She is a good traveller though. Last year she came in the car with us to Parkes for a night then to Newcastle - but my partners mother thought it a good idea to let the dogs (who had a cat when they were puppies and that cat let them play with its tail and would catch mice or crickets for them to play with) so we weren't there long... it took a long time to release lola's grip so we could leave - then on to Nelson Bay for a few nights. She loved it there. A nice big shed for her to explore.. it made her feel ourside and adventurous while still being inside.. then Newcastle back to Sydney.
She broke out of her travel cage at richmond on the way to Parkes.
She got lost in the skate bowl in Bathurst rest/skate park area
but she still loved us (although we only had her a month at the time)
she made herself at home begrudgingly when we got home... and because she loved my aunts shed so much she insists on running in to the hall every time the front door opens..

I forget my point - something about me liking my cat

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Oh dear, I was watching tv with a lovely warm cat on my lap. Unfortunately there was something very funny on tv and I laughed so much I sprayed Diet Coke all over her. She is not impressed and cleaning herself whilst giving me death stares.

Not sure if I can go to sleep tonight, I may be marked for death.

Yes I can imagine. Diet coke would be the worst.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Well new avatar photo now up. Here she is sitting on the window sill looking over her domain.

She hurt herself recently when jumping down from the tall boy in the dark. She headbutted the blanket box from a great height. She slept on the lounge chair that night with, I suspect a massive headache. No physical injuries but she is now more careful wandering about in the dark.

The noise was very frightening when she hit, however all is right now.

I know this is a cat-lover's thread, but I can't resist reporting that my son's dog (a miniature schnauzer) travels with him to (and from) work everyday by tram in a small dog carrier. She waits with him at the tram stop on her lead, and then happily walks into the carrier as the tram approaches.

who let the dogs out.jpg

Wonder what's going to happen if he actually hits those drums…?

Re: The totally off-topic thread

My cats were good value too.

I was talking about the heater because our cat was free but i wouldn't give the cat up for anything heater i think about because i can still make a tidy profit but the cat also loves the heater so we are one big happy warm family now

Re: The totally off-topic thread

A neighbours cat passed away in my backyard last night. Poor thing in the end was riddled with tumours over his body. Rest in Peace my Kitty friend.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

I had a serious talking to my cat recently, indeed trading in of said cat was mentioned. She had fresh water beside her breakfast, the bath was running and she likes to drink warm water. However, she went and drank from the toilet.

The requisite changes have now been made and the door is kept closed. Apparently there is a closing mechanism for the toilet but being a bloke I don't know how this works.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Oh thats so sad, I just found out a friend of mine was in a similar situation and I never knew (his body was riddled with tumours, he just told me literally 5 minutes ago that he had surgery and chemo in May).

My cat gave me the cold shoulder all of yesterday because I put the flea/worm liquid thing on her neck.
But she still wanted sleepy cuddles last night, now she's angry with me for not working from home today and being overly demanding.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Today is the 125th birthday of Schrödinger of cat fame who developed the (in)famous thought experiment:

Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. It illustrates what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics applied to everyday objects, resulting in a contradiction with common sense. The scenario presents a cat that may be both alive and dead, depending on an earlier random event. Although the original "experiment" was imaginary, similar principles have been researched and used in practical applications. The thought experiment is also often featured in theoretical discussions of the interpretations of quantum mechanics. In the course of developing this experiment, Schrödinger coined the term Verschränkung (entanglement).
