Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Re: The totally off-topic thread

We leave Lola at home, but we get my cousin or vet student friend to stay and mind her. Partly because she came from the pound so I don't care to make her think she is back at one and partly because they stay for free and we don't have to take her out of her home when she had too many already.

She is so fussy with food that I can't even get her a treat.

We could probably dress her up she is pretty placid, but she doesn't like wearing a collar so I don't think she would like it.

Lola runs to the door to greet us if she isn't sleep sulking, but thats mostly to roll on the cement outside I think. She is like a very good puppy. Whenever people come back that she knows she always gives them a welcome back cuddle...

I would love her to wear some Christmas clothes but I can't even get a collar on her.

There will of course be a present or two for her. After all she is the creature who always comes to me when I arrive home. Loves to sit on my lap and walk on my face in the morning to wake me up for her breakfast.

And the first call I make when considering travel? To her cattery. I say her name and desired dates and we see what is available.

One of mine is in custody waiting for her bright red plastic nails. She has been sprung clawing holes in the neighbours central heating ducts.
They wondered why they couldn't get warm last winter.
I wondered why she wasn't rushing home on cold nights.
All the cats in the street seem to congregate in their driveway.
I'd love to get a kitty cam under their house.

And yet we love them anyway, :)

Tibor (the chocolate one) and Colonel Tex (O'Hara).

Points for anyone who knows where their names are from.
Bonus points if you recognise Tibor!

The Simpsons? Google tells me both are Simpsons characters, but I only know the Rich Texan…
Googled him says his name is Colonel Tex O'hara….

Got it in one!

Tex is the rich Texan (Yee-Haw)
And Tibor is a bit character who is never seen, but is referenced twice in an episode when Marge gets a job at the power plant (blame the guy who can't speak English!).

:)

Well it is nearly a year since my girl came home with me and time for a new flu injection. She carried on a treat at the vet hissing at him when he cleaned her ears.

She fought whilst getting the injection and hissed again when he looked at her nails. The vet decided discretion was the better part of valour and that her nails were ok. :)

She remembers the Lort Smith hospital because the last time she was taken there she was surrendered. The vet said she still associates it with bad things happening to her. She was very happy to come back home and she was silent on the trip home which is unusual because she normally cries the whole trip in the car regardless of how long the journey is.

Still the card shows she's had her injection so she'll be welcomed at the cattery come the next trip.

Thank you for adopting. :)

Our Barry costs us a fortune when we go away. We put him in a cattery precisely once and when we went to pick him up there was a big "BEWARE" sign on his cage and it took him three weeks to recover his usual personality. So now he gets to stay at home while we pay Lonely Pets Club to come in and feed him on short trips and on long trips, we try to get someone to stay in that house with him. He gets incredibly lonely and also a little aggressive if he doesn't get enough attention.

I'm really a dog person but my daughter wanted a cat. He's the kitten on the left very very cute :)ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1391853608.957565.jpg

Picked him up today @ 13 weeks bigger with a mask coming & incredible blue eyes. Apparently they grow to about 9kg so he's going to be a big cat

My Pushkin too. I've never put him in a cat hotel; I know he'd hate it far too much. He gets visits from a servant. :)

He's a Russian Blue and is very close to and very sociable with His People. He needs human company, but only with people he knows. When I split from my ex-husband and moved to another city with uncertain accommodation prospects, Push stayed with his Dad for a few years. In that time, my ex got a new job which saw him working very long hours and travelling a lot. Pushkin fell into a deep depression over that. When I was settled, I took him back. He improved immediately, but It took him a year to fully recover from his depression. I'm pleased to report that he's now an extremely happy boy again, and he and my partner adore each other.

I gave him a good brushing recently and made him a little toupee from the hair.

I should add that he's a very experienced flyer. It's a shame he can't earn points.

My latest cats are coughs. They will run to anyone who enters the house and want to play. They are very friendly and trusting, I think something is wrong with them.

Last trip was 2 weeks in Niseko and they went to a friend's apartment, as she wanted to try having a cat anyway. I have 2 friends who are vets who can board then but I'd prefer they have more room than a cage for the bulk of the time.
