Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi all,

I am seeking suggestions on how to best get 95 QFF Status Credits by Apr 25. With lots of QFF points available for use (if it helps and/or makes sense to do so), this is so as to keep Gold.

Travel needs to be day return, preferably domestic and preferably on a Sat or Sun. I am based in Sydney.

Regards, M.

Have a look at going from SYD to somewhere in QLD north of TSV but with a connection on a flexi ticket. Can be done in a day for $640 or less.

Re: QF status run?

I need 70 status credits by 30th June to retain Silver. Have looked at return to Sydney but that only gives me 50. Be very appreciative of any suggestions/ideas. (Prefers to buy tix instead of using points). Thanking you in advance!

Look also at buying QP itself if you don't have it.
QF PS only gives single entry to QP per year if not a member, apart from PS bonus per QF and related airlines flights.
SG different kettle if fish though.
A J return will give 80... 70 plus 10 as buffer.
$$$.

So SYD-BNE-CNS-BNE-SYD on a Flex fare for approx. $650 to earn 100SC. Or around 2x43,300 QFF points on "Points Plus Pay - Flights" with zero cash? If the latter, is any payment required for taxes, fees or other charges?

Re: QF status run?

Thanks very much BUT could you please tell me what QP, PS and SG stand for?

Re: QF status run?

Actually that is a very good point. I suppose really it is the (probably) delusional hope that it places me higher up the ladder to be 'chosen' to get an upgrade using my points!?

It places you higher up the ladder than having no status at all, but you are still behind SG, WP, WP1, and CL. It's still better than nothing, I suppose. The status bonus with silver may also be useful for you, depending on your flying patterns. Or if you want to regularly make use of the extra baggage allowances.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

It would be good to firm in your status now as you earn QF points at a higher rate and need less to keep the status than dropping back and starting from scratch on your new year

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi all,

I have done a LOT of reading through the forums here and although I have read some comments either way by more experienced travellers than myself, butI am still undecided whether I should be chasing SC's (currently Silver) needing to reach Gold by the end of August or just collect & use FF points.
Now I do have some thoughts either way, but rather than throw them in first can I please ask if members would share their thoughts on this please

That's the one, and if you make the payment completely from points there's no more cash payments required.

Thanks, CaviAck. Also for your reply on 4-Apr-2015.

Am now considering how likely I am to earn 600SC, let alone 700SC, between 1-May-2015 and 30-Apr-2016. Depending on the answer, I may decide against doing any 100SC status run this month.

Another run in 2016? :P

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I was Platinum last year, Gold this year more than likely silver next year and who knows what the year after.
In the past I used a combination of JASA's and PAID flights to maintain status including 2 x return Business class tickets to New York ( Paid by ME not anyone else).
Now I just buy economy and try for an Upgrade with points been lucky so far but guess it is just Airline Roulette.
I worked out status is an expensive crock that I can have almost the same benefits ( excluding bonus points ) of by just upgrading to Business where I can and I am finding a more productive use of points.
Thanks Alan you opened my eyes and I am thousands of dollars better off.

Yep. I'm with you. This will be my last year trying to re qual WP Depending on CC earn, Mrs GPH and I do ok in the points space. So I should qualify LTS by Christmas , so along with my QP (life) membership even the lack of Dom upgrades won't damage lounge access ( albeit QP v J lounge) we won't chase status any more as the $ required are just a wee bit high.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi all, new to AFF!

I'm looking for the most cost effective status run ex HBA to get at least 150 SCs. Any time between now and 31 Jan 2016, preferably in one day on a Saturday or Sunday.

The best I've found at the moment is HBA-MEL-CBR-MEL-HBA in J for $1548/160 SCs - can't help but think there's a better option though!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

As most know the most cost effective way to increase the SC's is in LOTFAP.

Right now NZ have return flights to LAX from MEL/SYD/BNE for $800. Yep that's right, eight hundred dollars RETURN.

Match that up with a nice run or two over there for a couple hundred bucks and you're laughing.
