Forgive my ignorance (handle with oven mitts please) but I'm a new QF FF (first year) and just trying my first ASA SC run SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD.

My question is, if I booked return flights SYD-TSV and it just happens to be routed via BNE, do you get the full SCs for each of the 4 flights? Or are the SCs does calculated as though you flew "direct" SYD-TSV (even though there is no such QF flight, or so I understand)?

Just want to make sure I'm not spending a day on 4 flights for a measly SC return!

Many thanks

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

For Qantas it is the flights you take.

FYI, for Virgin, if a direct service exists between the two city pairs you will receive SCs for the direct, regardless of the routing you actually take.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

QF dont do SYD-TSV direct, only the orange cancer does this route, so bookings will go via Brisbane if its QF. I do wish QF had an "I am allergic to orange" button on their booking engine!

You will receive 200 s/c's ( J ASA = 40+60+60+40) or 400 s/c's with current double sc offer.

I have asked Red Roo about this Markis10. It is here to stay l'm afraid.

What a mammoth run that is.

I can't wait to graduate and get a job so I can actually get a credit card and earn more points LOL!

And the marketing department cried true tears of joy....

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hey guys, not sure if this has been addressed already but does anyone know what is up with the qantas status point calculator tool on their website? For example, a ADL-PER in discount economy is listed as 40 status credits one way with the tool but in reality that is a 20SC zone 3 flight (i fly this route often).

I'm asking because i'm going to be 30SC short of gold and would like to make an SC run to achieve it. On the calculator tool it says Adl-Mel is 20SC one way. I dont want to book a return to MEL and discover it is in reality only 10SC each way. Any help would be appreciated.

The calculator is broken. It is working out discount economy flights at the full economy rate.

However if you are earning double SCs then it is accurately showing your earn for discount economy (only)!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi Guys,

I need a 100SC by 31st Aug to maintain gold, what's the most cost effective route to take domestic from BNE? I have lots of FF points I can use too.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi All,

Is there a more economical way of racking up SCs without using points (I only joined the program this year) than taking the Red e-Deal SYD-xBNE-TSV return (100 SCs with double SC offer) for $270 (currently on sale until 2 July)?

I am based in SYD and am a good 330 SCs short of SG, so even based on the above SC run I don't believe SG is worth the $928 cost + card fees (i.e. $810 for 3 of the above runs = 300 SCs + a SYD return to Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie etc for 40 SCs - currently $59 each way Red e-Deal).

SYD to Coffs, won't get you 40SCs, Red e-Deals are discount Economy, only 10Sc's each way. Have you got many FF points? might be worth trying to do a JASA run?

I have the double SCs offer, so 20 SCs each way on discount economy SYD to Coffs, Port Macquarie, MEL, BNE etc.

I have 0 FF points - I fear I have squandered what little I had (approx 25K) on a YASA SYD-xBNE-TSV return... should have just saved them until I had enough for a JASA.

How were you gold with only 25K points?!?

That is currently on sale now for travel after 15 september, so you won't get double SC.

Not necessarily, there are reports of those who have been given extend periods for the general double SC promo and also reports of some custom double promos, however I am not aware of any going as far as September but thats not to say they are not out there.

There I go. Still I won't know about such reports.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

100SCs for $270 is already a pretty good deal in terms of cash-only earns. In terms of the earn ratio, it's roughly in the same league as the xTPE J runs on CX.

However, you can also book a JASA one-way somewhere, and fly back on a red-e. IIRC, you can get a SYD-xBNE-TSV JASA from 24k points (plus fees/taxes), which gets 200SCs. Coming back on the red-e would get you 50. After that, there is only 80 to go to SG, and there would be quite a few options that can get you that amount, especially with the double SC promotion.
