Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Keep in mind airlines in America are generally pretty good with tight connections. I have connected in Cincinnati with delta and had a connection of less than half an hour. Being in first you'll be off first too. Should anything go wrong, have it sorted in the admiral clubs, much better than at the gate.

Slight problem with this is that if you might mess up in the middle of a flight sequence, you have to work out what to do with the rest of the legs.

Then you have the contention that if you are booked in "Instant Upgrade" class, you may have to accept a Y seat with no argument.

In any case, I'm not sure how strong a claim for original routing credit would be.

Do they usually let you change the route? Say if I miss the flight back to LGA via ORD, will they let me go to Mia then LGA instead? I saw it is the same price when booking.
If they use the same plane to go back to ORD, I shouldnt have any issue. The site says they are both MC Donnell Douglas MD-83 but you will never know.

I'm booked in first special as no instant upgrades were available.

Thanks a lot.

Yes, the routing can generally be changed, especially in the case of IRROPS - the fare is from AAA-ZZZ, irrespective of what BBB, CCC ,DDD, EEE ... etc in the middle may exist.

Note that easy access to flight loadings with with a facility such as E/F or KVS can be very useful. Once I was able to locate and arrange a re-route into confirmed First class after a cancelled fight left me with the tenuousness of having a Y transcontinental BP with no allocated seat.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Thanks to the guidance and suggestions in this thread, I have now booked the following JASAs:

Day 1: BNE-CBR-MEL-AKL
Day 2: AKL-MEL-BNE-TSV, TSV-BNE

Nett Cost (after points earned on JASAs): 103K points and $590 for 420 SCs which puts me dead on the qualification level for P1 :)

A magnificent effort all round! Have fun. :)

Not sure how much fun it is going to be, especially arriving in AKL at 23:15 and roughing it in the terminal until the lounge opens at 4am. But the 6 hours is the MEL F Lounge on the way over should help :)

You can always pray for a late departure from MEL. :)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

not sure I'd be recommending paracetamol after 6 hours of liver-working in the F lounge :)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I am going to Vegas for a friends wedding next year so am going to do a status run or 2 to get WP and keep it.

I am also getting close to LTS not that is a big deal but gets me closer to LTG which at the moment is still worth achieving.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hello can someone please tell me if this is 'value" or not.

I have been searching and have found Bne-Adl-Adl-Mlb-Syd for 48 thousand points and $324.00 in J class. If I have worked it out correctly it is 140 sc.

So is that your typical status credit run prices or am would I be paying overs for that?

Thanks

Given 24000 will get you 140 SC with $300 co pay, its about 2X what is good value.

I'd say you could do better than that. I did the following:

Day 1: BNE-CBR-MEL-AKL
Day 2: AKL-MEL-BNE-TSV, TSV-BNE

For a nett Cost (after points earned on JASAs): 103K points and $590 for 420 SCs

This is all in J, and booked as 3 separate JASAs

Okay, after reading some of the prices here I had a feeling it was too much, so what is it I am doing wrong do you think. I am following the instructions on the first page but the average price for a fair is around 32-48 thousand points?

I'd say you could do better than that. I did the following:

Day 1: BNE-CBR-MEL-AKL
Day 2: AKL-MEL-BNE-TSV, TSV-BNE

That looks awesome, I only have 57000 points atm though and with work travel the rest of the year I will need about 200 sc to reach Platinum.

Is anyone able to shed some light on what I might be doing wrong with these bookings?

For example, the above suggested routes, whenever I go to the multiple booking par of the jasa I get a "we are unable to process your request" error and when trying a single route, say Bne-Tsv the cheapest Jasa I can find is 34000 each way?

I am searching right up until March next year but need to travel before Jan to reach Platinum.

Don't use multi city booking. Just search from/to and let the website spit out the indirect routing for you to pick.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Plus if you can't see the cheaper options as outlined here by members, it may be that one of us have already booked it :D, so you are left with the more expensive option...sorry, first in gets the cheaper points option!

That is where I was going wrong, thanks for your help Ferni.
