Somewhat OT, but does the AA bookings show in QFF's MMB?

If it is an all Qantas booking then enter the AA Sabre number in the MMB and it may show.

It has done for me previously.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Alas no! Thanks anyway.

Ok then ring AA for the PNR, they'll happily give it to you and will even change the FF number to your Qantas one if you want. It helps with seat selection according to your QF status. Then insert the PNR in MMB and life will be all good.

For those based in NZ (or happy to do runs from NZ), AKL/WLG/CHC-SYD/MEL/BNE-DRW return in J can be had for under NZD$2k during relatively frequent sales. There's nothing on at the moment, but at NZD2,000 for 320SC's is NZD$6.25/SC or AUD$5.85/SC. I often see return flights for $1800-1900 during J sales.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi all,

Very new here :)

I'm looking to fly business from MEL-BLR and am trying to maximize status. Qantas don't offer the flight with a single stop (adding 12+ hours to the trip), however Malaysia do.

I know Malaysia are OneWorld, however I'm not sure that they offer status for Business tickets, between Melbourne and KL?

<link to the QFF earning tables was denied as I'm new!>

Am I reading this right? Any thoughts?

Matt

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

There is either a bug with the QFF page showing OW SC earn calculator, as haven't heard it read of changes, it should earn 40 or 60 SC between Au and Malaysia flying MH J.
Fly EK with a QF flight number to earn most QF SC.
They fly MEL Au to KUL.

Living abroad, I am taking SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD in a day for a little less than $400. I need the 4 segments...

Hi Matt, here is the link to the QF calculator, where you can play around and calculate all the options:

Welcome to AFF, MattS.

MH does earn on QF however for most routes in J, only at the 'flexible economy' rate.

OK, thanks JessicaTam. I suspected as much (real bummer).

I'm going to look to go MEL>HKG with Qantas, and HKG>BLR with Malaysian. Hopefully Amex Travel can sort that out for me, as this trip will push me over the edge for QF Gold :)

If you are flying MH HKG-KUL-BLR in J then you will earn at the 'business' rate as it is within Asia. 160SC (2x 80SC).

Isn't that changing soon (has already changed) back to J status credits?

I think that is only Qatar Airways that is changing back. MH Business flights will continue to be credited as 'flexible economy'.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

We will be in LAX March/April and originally planned a SC run to PTY or SJU, but have decided now to visit Washington and Nashville (maybe Dallas too) ..looking at doing this in First class but need some help with the routing to maximise SC earn. We plan on 5 or 6 days in Washington / 4 days in Nashville and maybe two in Dallas. We have a month in the USA and will return to LA or LV and pick up a car for the remainder time We both need 420 SC's to requalify for Gold I am coming up with about $1500 each for the flights currently (US$) which I know is double the cost for a SJU run but having been there before thought we could see some of the cities that we have missed out on previous trips...any ideas or suggestions welcome

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Ah, now I see why MH no longer shows J earn rates from Aust on the QF FF points and SC calculator.
Always wondered why it kept showing whY and flexY only of late.
No more J earns.
Thanks.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi all. Been looking on here a while and finally posting!

I need 260sc to get to gold. Will be in the US around feb-march and was looking for a good sc run if anyone has suggestions. Cheers!

Also curious about a domestic run that could get these too.

WAS is a relatively expensive destination, with connecting fares from LAX in the USD480 region.

You can find better SC bang for buck by flying midweek (esp Tuesdays) and perhaps having separate fares via competitive ports such as DEN.
