Welcome to AFF.

Being at AA hubs it gets a little more expensive.

Have you already booked your travel from LAX to MIA?

Thanks! Yes as I am going to Dominican Republic. I have a flight back to MIA from there and a flight home from LAX. Nothing in between. Am flexible to move around.

260 SC's is relatively easy - but a straight out bookingMIA-LAX in First won't get 260 SC's so cheaply.

Try looking at separate bookings with midweek connecting flight via a competitive port (such as AUS - check the BBQ) with a next day connecting 2 segment booking to LAX.

Who'd have thought that there is an airport called BBQ.

Thanks for the advice. Never been to Texas but do love BBQ!

Do you suggest a good site for flight bookings?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Figured I'd post in this thread. I'm planning on getting Gold this year, and need the full 700 SCs before September. So what better way to start off than by looking through some of the great info in this thread and putting together my own stuff. See below:

Can anyone sanity-check my calculations or provide any suggestions? The good thing about this run is that I'm not spending ages in another country (like the PTY flights seem to force you into).

:)

Just make sure those JQ flights have the plus bundle added to the price, otherwise you won't get SCs.

Thanks for that, yeah I'm not sure what Google Flights uses as the JQ flights. I'll also need to ensure I have those pesky squiggle flights too.

I turned twice last year in PTY, arriving about 11am and departing 3pm same day.

Interesting. I haven't yet been able to find any flights like that without the cost blowing out to the point where it isn't feasible. Maybe something's changed?

It also doesn't help that ITA is throwing Internal Errors when trying to search PTY flights.

Things may have changed since early last year when I booked however the PTY deal I used was around for quite a few months. TBH I haven't looked since august last year so possibly (probably) things may be different now. Once this xmas/nye hangover wears off I'll have a bit of a look around.

PTY turns are quite regular, they come up most years.

Nice job anyway on your run.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

We are booking flights in America as follows: JFK-LAS AND LAS-LAX in first.Do we get status credits even though they are AA flights?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

If you add you QFF number to the booking, yes.
I have tried to get these flights with a QFF number on the QF and AA site but have been unable too. What way if any,can I achieve this. All our other flights to America have been booked with points. Thanks in advance

What Coriander posted above is the number of SC you will earn if you book AA flight numbers not QF codeshare. To earn these SC you simply need to enter your Qantas Frequent Flyer number (QFF) in your AA booking or give it to the check in agent at the airport.
