I have tried to get these flights with a QFF number on the QF and AA site but have been unable too. What way if any,can I achieve this. All our other flights to America have been booked with points. Thanks in advance
You can book direct with AA. The US site is usually cheaper (AA.com). When entering your details, one of the data fields to complete will be frequent flyer details. It's been a while since I've booked but IIRC there's a drop down menu from which you can select Qantas and then enter your FF number.

As a double check, when checking in for the flights, or in the lounge, ask them to check that you QFF number is attached so that points and SCs credit to Qantas.

Thank you all so much for your wisdom and yes,it is way cheaper on the AA website. The SCs will come in handy!!!! Cheers

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

One thing that I learned last year and hasn't yet been posted here is that booking AA flights via your TA may prove to be very cost effective as they are able to have some taxes etc. waived if the passenger has an international ticket to and from the US. Need not be on the same booking for the charges to be waived.

And good advice. Also, if you include your QFF # during the on-line AA booking process, your QFF details will be shown on your AA e-ticket.

Thanks for that, yeah I'm not sure what Google Flights uses as the JQ flights. I'll also need to ensure I have those pesky squiggle flights too.

Google Flights don't include the plus bundle and tend to price out just a tad higher than what JQ will give you.

I found that not all TAs know about this, but yes there's one TA that has worked well with a lot of us and opened our eyes to new things. :)

And good advice. Also, if you include your QFF # during the on-line AA booking process, your QFF details will be shown on your AA e-ticket.

It'll also give you any benefits associated with your status as well like waiving the fees for premium seat selection.

Just worth noting you won't be able to book QF flight numbers on AA flights if you have separate tickets.

QF flight numbers (code-shares) will only be available on select flights, and even then, only if on the same ticket bringing you to or from America.

Note that such ticketing needs to be done with the intra-USA ticket issued as a 'Conjunction Ticket' linked together with your international ticket.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi,

I'm a real noob at this and so this may be useless but I can get in ITA:

Routings ADL (my home port)-AKL-ADL with a forced BNE connection on QF only metal in business for $1894 for 280 SC's. That is $6.76 per. Most of you will know, but don't get tripped up on the EK codeshares as you get nothing for those.

I think the BNE connection pushes it into the next distance bracket for SC's and really ups the value.

I hope this is useful.

(BTW I think I just found a new hobby)

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Things may have changed since early last year when I booked however the PTY deal I used was around for quite a few months. TBH I haven't looked since august last year so possibly (probably) things may be different now. Once this xmas/nye hangover wears off I'll have a bit of a look around.

PTY turns are quite regular, they come up most years.

Nice job anyway on your run.

PTY runs are definitely still around ex-LAX, as is SJO but SJO prices out slightly higher (but still under £1/TP).

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

So in prepping HNL-SJU for a run, I will have an overnight layover in LAX and will have to spend the night in HNL for the flight back to MEL (in the morning, not like my original image). Does anyone have recommendations on these stops or what's worked for them in the past?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

What time do you get back into HNL?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I'll be doing BNE - SYD - CGK in March on J total will be $2055 / 320 SCs (on business sale)

SYD - CGK costs exactly the same on J, so why not flying from BNE for the same price while earning an extra "free" 80 SCs?

If anyone is heading up to Jakarta this might be a decent option

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I'm looking at a stats run in March beginning in LAX to perhaps PTY, SJO or elsewhere in Central America or the Caribbean leaving either the evening of the 6th or anytime the 7th. I'm keen to make a trip out of it for 5-7 days in the destination ideally finishing in the east in maybe ORD, BOS, PHL or NYC but will consider finishing back in LA if I have to as I need to be back there on the 18th for my flight back to Australia. Ive played around with the IAT matrix but I think I can do better. My budget is about 1k AUD.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yep just a bit more expensive than they were early last year.
