re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

HI All,

With the SC AA gives now for business/first travel on status runs, is there any advice for trying to book this now. I see there is a business option on the site now for booking tickets. In the past it used to be coach & first.
What is the best way to get first tickets?
I'm looking for a status run out of LAX in late AUG. I've had success with SJU & PTY in the past.

Cheers.
The international legs to PTY/SJU are on two class birds, so only J will be available. Not many three class flights in the US for F. The best thing to do is to assume J on all flights, and price $/SC accordingly.

Also be aware of the 01 May changes that are definately not simpler nor fairer... I was eyeing off LAX-MIA-SJU to pick up a cruise early next year. One option for the LAX-MIA leg is on 3 class 772. I was quite happy with taking the 100 SCs for J and getting a proper seat. But post 01 May - 50SCs on an AA fn... Yet, MIA-SJU will still be 60! I guess the old bounce through DFW will still pickup 120 LAX-DFW-MIA....

I didn't realise that the revised earning table was so unfair e.g. JFK-MCO is still 60 SC, but LAX-MCO is 50SC. Very weird!!!

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Any AA flight with the possibility of a QF code share was reduced by half (speculation)

Just wandering

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Remember the AA earn change is seemingly (as announced) temporary while QF/AA rejig their JV application. Should the new one succeed with the US DOT you can preume the SC earn will return, probably not to fully as it was, but it should improve.

Of course the magic question is when all this may take place. Hopefully sooner rather than later....

Hello everyone

I have an upcoming trip to Manila at the end of June and was wondering if someone could kindly advise me on a good intra Asia run fr BNE? (or any other major city MEL, SYD, OOL)

I'm 300 SCs away from WP and I thought it'd be a good excuse to reach platinum.

Thanks heaps =D

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

MNL > KUL> BKI return on J yield 280 sc plus your trip to MNL should do it?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

That's actually a good idea too.

I was, narrow mindedly, thinking about creative ways to get to MNL but flights from MNL in J aren't to bad either.

Also interested in this, but I've left my run too late I'm afraid because my anniversary is end May - had to cancel my planned WP trip sadly :(

I am already at Manila and going on a MNL-HKG-SIN trip for 240 sc for around $1,500. Stopover optional and free in HK.

If you need or want to go the UK, BKK-CMB-LHR UL in J, return 360 SC. However the MH J runs from BKK are probably the best value.

Will be in Europe for six months as of next week - mainly UK but hoping to get to Spain and France - any good ideas of status runs - extremely flexible and willing to spend up to $2K

Skyscanner >
London (Any) to Barcelona (BCN) return >
I picked random dates of 3/10 dep 12/10 ret >
Business class, Search >
Filter "1 stop" and "Oneworld" >
Page 4! Tada

Having a quick look at EF, I'm guessing the fare basis is IENJSB which shows up as $451AUD.. close enough. Notable fare rules below.

FLIGHT APPLICATION
IF THE FARE COMPONENT INCLUDES TRAVEL WITHIN SPAIN THEN THAT TRAVEL MUST BE ON ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
ANY IB FLIGHT.
AND
THE FARE COMPONENT MUST INCLUDE TRAVEL VIA INTERNATIONAL SECTORS ON ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
IB FLIGHTS 3600 THROUGH 3999.

ADVANCE RESERVATIONS/TICKETING
CONFIRMED RESERVATIONS FOR ALL SECTORS ARE REQUIRED AT LEAST 21 DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE.

MINIMUM STAY TRAVEL FROM LAST STOPOVER MUST COMMENCE NO EARLIER THAN THE FIRST SUN AFTER DEPARTURE FROM FARE ORIGIN.

BLACKOUT DATES TRAVEL IS NOT PERMITTED 07SEP16 THROUGH 30SEP16 FOR FROM THE GATEWAY.

LDN-MAD legs in the screenshot I took were IB3714/3715, which falls into the range mentioned in the rules.

No issue loading the itinerary for some September dates from Skyscanner into Iberia's site either.
