Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Yeah, done 4 flights on QF recently only had one more planned later in year to HKG then this double deal came up again, its just a pain having to spend 2 nights in TSV when other flights not so, as CNS/BNE/DRW is so much more in points and extra cash, not sure why. In my case might as well just do a CNS/SYD/CNS run via BNE (instead of TSV) for same points.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Have you done your 4 (~ squiggle) qualifying flights on QF/JQ for the year?

Yes, 4+ flights and a few more coming up - luckily I was holding out for paperwork from China before booking, then the DSC popped in. :D
Downside of course is that I'll have to book and fly next week so no chance of a reasonably-priced JASA - whY… :(

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Just booked:

SYD-BNE-TSV (Fri)
TSV-BNE-DRW-BNE-TSV (Sat)
TSV-BNE-SYD (Sun)

96,000 points for 480 SCs at 200 points/SC!

If only I had the DSC offer!!!

Are you sure about your calculations? Are all your segments in J class? I'm coming up with the following:

SYD-BNE-TSV = 37,819 points
TSV-BNE-DRW = 40,092 points
DRW-BNE-TSV = 40,092 points
TSV-BNE-SYD = 37,092 points

Total: 155,824 points for 480 SC

Is there something I'm missing here?

Thanks

Quote them all together on a multicity JASA SYD-TSV-DRW-TSV-SYD then slide the slider to the left to minimise point spend and adding cash co-payment.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Im really sorry if this question has been asked, although my circumstances are a bit different to most.
I need to do a SC run to get myself to Gold in a relatively short period of time.
Unfortunately as my company just moved from Velocity to Qantas I don't have points to use. Are there affordable/sensible ways to work around this as I note most of the suggested strategies rely on having a healthy bank of points to work with.

Many thanks

How much $ was the cash component ?

Sign up to credit cards to get the sign-up bonuses...??
Pray to the Double-Status-Credits-Offer gods for a DSC offer.

If you are trying to get QP access, sign up to AFF as a Gold member to access the discounted rates for QP membership (if your company doesn't have a corporate rate already that is).

If you can get approved for the Amex platinum with 80k bonus once you spend 500 dollars on the card you will be able to transfer the points. All going well this can occur within 1-2 weeks then you will have an adequate amount of points to play with to get you to gold

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

So now I've gotten a DSC offer I'm actually toying with going for WP after I break my DONE4 in April. Need 410SCs. Any nice and easy ~200SC runs out of BNE ?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I am also wanting to do an SC run to maintain WP which expires end May. Currently have 400 SC's and around 130k of points + a $500 voucher to use. International or domestic would be OK however do not want to spend heaps of cash to maintain WP. Just received DSC offer so would appreciate suggestions on best cost effective runs. Also abut time poor but could manage to squeeze a long weekend of travel if necessary.

What is your home port?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Apologies. Brisbane is home port.

The KTA run is hard to get and a time soak, it might be worth getting to TSV and doing the TSV-DRW return leg for a haul of 560 SC on one day, then a run home TSV-ADL as another JASA for 240 more SC, leaving the positioning flights as bonus SCs. The Holiday Inn TSV is currently on offer for 5000 PC points which can be had for $30, thats not bad for a night if your a PC member in terms of covering accom costs.

Total point costs should be 24K x 3 + cash for the three JASAs and doable in a weekend and you will earn 17K from the JASAs.

I could probably fit in a BNE KTA run as I notice there are a couple of dates with low JASA points required. How many SC's would this run give me? Not sure where to find in the QF website.

400 if via Mel or ADL in both directions. got one booked in June. And no hotel costs either...

Yeah I'm in a tough spot.
No points to play with, not much hope of a credit card approval.
i will be doing about 25 short run work trips during the year so getting to gold would help. Work flights all disc economy so not likely to hit gold without a boost.

Are the dsc offers just sent via email or do I need to look out elsewhere?
my only hope may be to shell out $$ on a domestic j fare when the dsc offer is on in hope of grabbing a few extra credits which may get me to the 700 required for gold this year.

It is a "targeted" offer and invitation by email only, so if you don't have it by now you've probably, unfortunately, missed this round - better luck for the next one.
Make sure you've checked the "Frequent Flyer Exclusives"
box in your details page QFF a/c.
Actually sighting for the targets seems to be something of a mystery, even to the learned folk who frequent this font of frequent flying knowledge.
