Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

xASA for TSV-BNE-DRW is definitely cheaper than a Classic. Both bookings I've made in the last month were 91,173 for a JASA. Wish more routes were calculated this way!

Is that 91,173 all inclusive ie., max points ?
Or was there a cash component as well ? If so - how much ?

Cheers

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Pretty logical but bit the same as driving a sports car instead of a VW...it just feels good
But having a shiny piece of plastic in your wallet (aka wallet candy) is also not as nice to look at as a sports car. I too would query the value of obtaining 480 SC's if that short. The dollar/point spend to obtain them is so high, for possibly minimal gain (I have no idea what the posters flying habits are or will be in future, but I would probably not bother if only domestic).

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Can anyone give a suggestion to get 550 SCs out of MEL with one overnight maximum ? Have 250k+ points for the JASAs.

I can sacrifice two full days for the status run but no more than that.
I recall someone posted a domestic option MEL-SYD-BNE-HBA-CNS-ADL-SYD-CBR-MEL or something like that that yielded 500+ SCs but looking through these pages I can't seem to find it.

Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hi All, Is there a way to get the best routes (i.e least efficient/most sectors) to show up in the classic awards.

I am in Auckland looking at a AKL-TSV return in U. If I select points+Pay I can see options which are (AKL-xMEL-xBNE-TSV) but when I go to classic awards all I see are one-stop itineraries. Is this a function of the dates - . One thing I have noticed is that there are plenty of award bookings available (not like when I am trying to book an award to go to somewhere I actually want to go to!!!)

Anyway I have got a DSC offer so keen to take advantage of it as I am planning a genuine trip with Mrs Jaybeedee next year and figure I will need a bit more status to get flights made available.
PS - thanks to all the people who contribute to this, your knowledge is incredible.

Staying close to home you could do CBR-SYD-HBA return twice for 200 x2 and position with MEL-SYD-CBR return for 160. You might need two nights for that, so you could do two separate runs MEL-CBR-xSYD-HBA return for 280 each.

Go to say 550 SCs with no DSC is not going to be cheap, I would reconsider the need.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hmm, it will cost between $1200-$1500 and well over 100,000 points.

Yes around that ballpark is what I had in mind. The best option I have so far is 2x 240 MEL-SYD-ASP runs which comes in at 96k points and $756.
Maybe I should just lock those in (no overnight required) then duck out to Sydney for lunch one day at a cost of 16k points and maybe $200 ?
Unsure of cash component of a MEL-SYD-MEL though can't imagine it would be much more than $200 bringing total cost to 112k points and $1k.
Now I have to think about whether or not its worth it. Planning another CC run which should nett me 115k QF points which will cover the outlay for these runs. A G though is of course nothing to scoff at. Hmmm.

The thing I know how rare it is to get a DSC so may not get another better/easier shot at WP. QF really do have me sucked in don't they lol. Planning a fair bit of overseas travel next year so the lounge access will come handy. And now the US trip which I was planning to credit to QF get me to WP could be used to rack up some AA miles.

Or do I just do one MEL-SYD-ASP run and be content with SG ? Hmmmm.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

See if you can find a MEL-PER-KTA, gets 560 SCs on a DSC JASA and can be done in a day, albeit very long.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

I have a DSC, but my target is 1100 lol

Don't worry I have a 50% bonus offer and my target is 1400SC ^^. So far I'm looking at back to back TSV-DRW runs, a SYD-TSV positioning and a paid red-e TSV-CNS-SYD (to avoid having my SCs ending on 2 lol) over 5 days, preferably would've wanted the SYD-KTA run but I don't have enough points for that... :(

I'm starting to sound insane, but WP by 20 would be a fun little box to tick.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Insane? Never. Of course insane. I am on the merrygoround to keep WP> Did not use DSC offer earlier this year now paying for it. Have booked a SC run Syd-Bne- Tsv in Business class return next month to earn 200 SC but still need 30. Will use MASA script again, worked perfectly!!!

The min cost for this run is 72k points isn't it ?
Any idea on the cash component ?

MEL-SYD-ASP return at 48k for 480 SCs seems better value but the KTA might be a good option from an availability perspective.
I've only got until 30 Nov before the DSC expires, and one of those weekends I will be overseas, so prob gonna have to book something this week.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Sorry can't remember the cash component, am currently overseas and don't have access to my records to review it.

But it was a fun day. :)

If MEL-PER-KTA is anything similar to SYD-PER-KTA it's 72k points plus $500-550 co pay.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Like markis10, I'd seriously re-consider the need for 1100 SC run.

But it is your decision in the end.

After all, you could buy on eBay the QF F lounge pass when you need it and row 13 in Emerald City is only one row behind row 12 !

Depends on how much the 1100SC is going to cost you. Valuing a point at 1c/point and with a DSC the total cost to get to WP could be ~$3k net which is reasonable if done at the beginning of the member year and qualifies you WP for two years.

Well I would need about $1000 and 128k points.
And I picked up 100k points so far this year from 3x CC sign-on bonuses at $99+$150+$221.25 = 0.47c per point.

So say the other 28k at 1c/point to chase WP would cost me a total of $1750.25.
For 20 months of WP.

And the $150 was for the Amex ultimate which I also got a MEL-BNE return flight on which was worth $215 per way at the times and day that I flew.

$150! How?
