Did you use the slider on the JASA to reduce the cash?

mASAs can only be booked by phone and my understanding is that the CSR has no slider you just have to specify how many points you would like to use and they enter that amount to then tell you the cash that you must pay.

I thought there was still a min points requirement ?

Eg. I didn't think you could do a MEL-SYD-ASP return JASA for <48k points.

There is. I was just trying to indicate that I thought that there wasn't a "slider" as such for the 48-91k range in the example given. You must specify the points that you want to use and then the CSR calculates the cash.

The CSR has a slider, they have access to the same engine we USED to have.

Hi Guys

2 quick / easy questions (hopefully)

1. Through the new telephone system if a "classic" seat is available on a CX or EK coded flight are we able to request them as an "ASA"
2. Will status credits and FF points be earned on said seats

Apologies if posted in the wrong thread

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Question about TSV turnaround on QF970 QF971. I am looking at an AKL-BNE-TSV return and doing it in a day.

When I first looked at it I thought the times between flights were too tight, then I realised it was probably the same plane - so if I get there I would be able to get out again. Does anyone know if this is correct or how to find out ?
thanks

QF 970/971 is operated on the same plane 99.9% of the time; it's a quick 35-40minute turnover in TSV - so if you get there on 970; it's almost certain you'll leave on the same jet for 971.

Speaking of the AKL-TSV run; has anyone managed to successfully book one via. SYD/MEL + BNE; instead of BNE?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi
I'm thinking of doing a status run (ex SYD) before 1st Feb 2014, currently QFGold and need 450 SC for QFPlat. although I'm flying SYD-KUL-DEL rtn in economy with Malaysian over Christmas which should get me ~100 SC leaving 350...

I have 125K points currently so if I cleared those out I could only earn(by flying) 200SC assuming 600points/SC

1/ I'm hoping for a Double Status credit offer - is getting one of these just down to pure luck? or does everyone tend to get them prior to their reassessment?

2/ Anyone got any suggestions for the most effective (price/SC) status runs at the moment? and whether it's worth saving the points for a xONE instead?

Thanks
Alex

Yes you got it right, we do not know how they are chosen. My theory is if you have a flight booked then noting for say 9 months later booked you could get the double DC offer, well its happened to me twice in past 4 years. I took it up, so Q got points and dosh I got more status, a win win for both.

I've done this a few times. There's enough time to go for a walk out and around the car park to stretch your legs, back to the lounge for a drink, then straight back on the plane.

Have your explanation ready.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

DRW the same plane turnaround, as I boarded for the return the CSM said "you just got off, is there a story there?" I said yes "didn't like Darwin!", he laughed and said "well you've only been here an hour", later he sat next to me in J for 5 mins. and advised it as a double SC run, then he understood.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Heck I didn't even get off the plane in KTA. The CSM knew what I was doing (we'd talked) and asked me if I wanted to stay on the plane. I did so the FA doing gate duty was given my BP.

Never rains but it pours...I got a 50% bonus SC offer, booked nothing then 3 weeks later a double SC offer.
Iam 200 SC short of Platinum

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi guys,

Need some ideas for a status run to maintain Gold.

I need 180 status credits and I have got the 50% offer as well. So really only need 120 to make it.

The best I can find is SYD-MEL-CBR-SYD in J for 32,000 points (available as a Classic award). Haven't called up yet to try for the ASA but the same itinerary should work?

Thanks

I saw lots of routings through SYD/MEL if you are paying real money - Couldn't find any at all through classic awards
