Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

For a good SC/$ ratio, my tip is for you to pretend you were a schoolie (unless you already are one) and that you can afford more than discount economy.

I went to schoolies last week, but didn't leave the airport. I'm going again tomorrow to complete my WP status. :D

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

TSV BNE ADL return JASA should cost 48,000 points and around $360, netting 240 SCs, so 480 with DSC. You can add extra ports eg SYD or MEL into the itinerary for more SCs and more $$ but the same points. Check the "sucessful" bookings thread and spreadsheet.

As to your 2nd question, yes.

Good luck!

Best one was JASA to TSV/BNE/DRW return.

Try various SC scenarios here.

Yes you keep gold from date you qualify until end date following year.

Limewood and Anna thank-you!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I'm in the same boat. Need 385 SCs (190 ) before 1 March with no travel planned. Also based in MEL and I can fly any day to anywhere (even overseas) in the next month. Interested to see what options are available for a cash based status run out of MEL.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions. I received a DSC offer and need 375sc for WP. Unfortunately I used all my remaining points on an award booking for the Mrs last week, Im therefore reliant on cash-runs only.
Btw Im based out of Melbourne.

Many thanks

Note that the DSC offer only applies to domestic flights.

About $750

Unless a sale comes up you're out of luck... even then you'll be pushing it at $3.85/SC (you'll need 195SC not 190 before the double as well)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Anyone know if the good value MASA MEL-SYD-ASP in J are still available these days? I did this run last year as a JASA and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Have you checked out Jessica's spread sheet? Up to date info should be there.

**Update: Found the spreadsheet took a bit of hunting ** :)
Do you have the link to the spreadsheet? had a quick look in the stickies but couldn't find it, haven't kept up to date with the status run threads for about a year so have lost touch! :D
Dreading my first MASA phone call after reading all the threads here about it.

The spreadsheet is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvpG2hDkgv4fdHY3U3k1MThWMF9SVGh0cHp5RWdVeXc&usp=sharing

And the applicable thread is here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....essful-asa-bookings-booked-classic-53677.html

Oh, and it is 48,000 points...

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Thanks for this -very useful. I have 41 days to do 415 SC with absolutely no leisure or business travel in those 41 days. :(

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

If you can find the flights: two trip to CBR via SYD as a JASA, and a discount Y return flight to MEL will net 400+20SC and cost 64,000 points + $

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to maximise SC's going to HK/China? I fly from Sydney to HKG or CAN around once a month in Y for work, but as long as the fare isn't crazy (I usually book fares between $1200, up to $1600 depending how late I book it - often just 1 or 2 days before) no-one looks too hard at the routing.

I have made the most of SYD-PER-SIN-HKG on VA (SG), tho that 1am PER departure is a bit coughpy. Any good ideas for one world SC's/points as I am only sitting on 60 SC's this year (Aug expiry) after tending to go VA or CS due to high QF prices lately. Cathay prices are often better, but I hate those seats.

I have done the CS SYD-CAN direct a few times because of the convenience overnight flight times and I have always been able to get a row of 4 to myself in "PE" (nothing premium about it). I have a Vietnam Airlines (Skyteam) elite status from doing that just 3 times, so no lounge access, but better check in/baggage - less queuing in CAN. I don't really like flying CS tho.

This wouldn't be for status runs per se, more making the most of travel I am already doing, with creative routing to take the most advantage of earning SC's.

Thanks!

Thanks - thought CBR might be involved. I could also look for a job after recent events down here......

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi Fellow ff'ers and Mods.
I think due to the latest changes to FF points on both Qantas and O/W partners, it might be time to redo this whole thread?
Can we start a new one please Mods?
