I got this email for my Platinum Edge but not on Explorer which used frequently, and nothing on Mrs' Explorer which hasn't been used much this year.

Just received the same offer on my wife's Plat Edge card/account (but not on my account).

Not sure I can even guess why she was targeted with this as she has always spent more then $1k / month over the last year.

C.

No email for me. Might ring and check though. Wouldn’t be the first time there has been no email but it turned out I was eligible.

Has anybody had any luck in getting Amex to apply this offer to a Business Platinum Charge card?

Live chat have said there's a bonus 50k points offer with a monthly spend of $30,000 or above, better than a kick in the teeth but what are my chances of asking for more?

I spoke with someone from Business Line about Access Line on Friday and said they were having a meeting to determine if they should extend it from Personal cards to Business cards. My gut feel is they won't as 'Businesses' spend much more than 'Individuals' but you never know. We'll wait and see. There are already other similar services to Access Line for a similar cost to use for Business Payments in any event.

Well that's a fairly insulting offer from AMEX isn't it? Less points than you'd earn in a single month!

I definitely need to start a high turnover business to rack up some points!!! :p

In answer to your question, I don't know... i'm pretty sure i'm AMEX's lowest value customer based on these treads!

If you're talking about buying forex and using RP/BP to pay them, most of these seem to have been banned now.
all my payments to my forex company of choice over EFT using BP/RP was cancelled in the last couple of weeks since the double points promo started
Even thought I used to do it without issues back in the day when the exchange rate was a lot more in my favour (late '17/early '18)

I was looking at bog standard "business" payments. I've only been looking at this space again since the double points promo was announced. Previously used RP with Explorer in the hey day of 2 pre-deval Ascent Premium MR points/$ but no longer made sense for me after that until this promo was announced.

All my inquiries have brought up these "cash equivalent" payments like FX as you've stated as banned. Guess these are "business" payments but ones where AMEX can rack up a big bill for the 5% rebate they're giving us during the promotion period which is fair enough. Disappointing they've outright banned them.

I'm still doing normal payments using the Amex, max surcharge I'll pay 1.5% post deval. Even then most are surcharge free

Got this offer too on my Platinum Card. Has anyone ever used it to pay off car loan? BMW Finance allows payment via BPay so it would be great to pay with the Platinum Card and then do a 0% balance transfer...

i'm impressed that refunds that came during the double points period are tracking correctly.

For the transactions where I actually earnt the 4.5ppd, credited as -4.5ppd.
For transactions that were booked last year or early jan etc earnt the standard -2.25ppd, credited as -2.25ppd.
I thought I'd have to chase them up to fix manually, but all good!

All I'm going to say on this subject from two recent experiences is Fight Club.

The double points are good - but there is not much to spend it on now - and less to spend..
Can always prepay ATO given very low interest rates.
I will ask my relationship manager to put pressure on Amex management to extend this double points scheme. We are not getting much value otherwise for our platinum/ centurion cards.

Extension would be great. I reckon the supermarket spend bonus is also in this vain. Not sure if Amex will extend it assuming will be costing them depending on how much extra spend has found its way to Amex via payment processors which Amex would not normally see.
