Double Status Credits 2011

I can't help but laugh at all the people in this post who are seriously cut up about missing out on this (or rather, these) promotions.
I am seriously cut up about it! Offering someone double SCs on their next flight for their birthday is a good promotion. If they are going to offer "No limit" double SCs promotions then offer it to all not just a random cross section.

What is QF trying to achieve? Offer some people easier ways to get status? Why? To irritate their most loyal frequent flyers by not including them in the promotion? Great move.

Some poster earlier mentioned 73,000 QFF points + $400 for 730SCs!!!! Surely that is a joke, right? Not just a joke, it is an absolute joke. Makes me even more depressed for the piddly 10SCs I get commuting SYD-BNE almost weekly.

The best way to sum it up is that this is a slap in the face. There is no other way to look at it. Simple.

And only recently QF removed MY anytime access to lounges due to overcrowding. What better way to fix the overcrowding then to offer easy status to more people.

OK. I feel better now....

QF just wiped off ~3,250 QF SC's end April. No QF 2X SC email. No QF love, thanks for you business or loyalty.

Hello AA EXP, unlimited F domestic US upgrades and 8 system wide J/F upgrades. Hey QF, Red Roo. You listening? Anybody home? Hello????

+1

Just had 1900 QF SC's wiped end April. No love from QF. AA Exp next stop

Paddy

Having said that, if you weren't on the forum you probably wouldn't have heard about the promo either...

I've missed out before and it doesn't feel fair, but they can't offer it to everyone at once. you might get it next time.

Um... they can

Paddy

But they're not doing for everyone to retain or increase their status, that wouldn't make financial sense. They're doing it where for some reason they think it will achieve additional revenue (whether or not we think they have targeted it effectively, they have picked people that they think it will generate revenue from - that's how all marketing programs are conceived).

Most big companies do targeted campaigns to specific segments of existing customers. For example, Virgin's status match offer, whilst not advertised, was targeted at people who they thought they could achieve additional revenue from - status Qantas pax. They didn't target Velocity red members - they could have offered all red members silver status, but would that really achieve additional revenue? Probably not. But matching the status for people who obviously fly a lot, that makes sense.

As does QF targeting specific people for this campaign. They might be off the mark with the way they generated the list, but that's a different argument.

As straitman said it would be illogical. if they did that, why wouldn't they just half the SC's required instead?

Amex as an example do targeted promotions too, you get some you don't..

I've been NB for about 4 years, barely ever flown qantas until last year and wasn't very interested in QFF at all until about a month ago when i flew to Hong Kong with a WP for the first time and got to go the FLounge

This year I've actually got to fly a lot so have booked things using tips off this site to max out points and actually have around 10 Qantas flights booked in at the moment over the next few months and got the double points offer.

I'm thinking its probably geared around flight booking activity from my experience but there could be no real clear pattern to the offer going out

Quick question about the date that the SCs are credited from. My qual year finishes at the end of june, and I beleive it takes several weeks (6?) for the SCs to be credited. If fly before the end of my qual year, and they are credited after, which year will they count towards? I assume they will count towards the year the flights are taken, but just want to make sure...

thanks...

They will always count to the year the were flown, but you might have a nervous wait if they don’t credit immediately ;)

I got the e-mail wednesday night. first time ever!! I have been either Qantas club bronze or bronze. Currently have 110 stat credits with 80 to come in July (last leg of bne-mel-syd-nan). Currently have nan-bne-syd J award, considering cancelling this and booking nan-syd-mel-bne a day earlier than family and meet them at bne and buy a Y bne-syd and hope for a points upgrade to J to sit with rest of family. Also do a JASA crb-hba; all should get me gold before my renewal date of 31/7.

so could go from nothing to Gold this year, sweet.

Wow a lot of posts on this subject very quickly!

I was pleasantly surprised to receive the offer this year, I think it's the first time.

Status: QFF since 1995.
SG 2000-2005, 2010-present.
Currenty lifetime SCs: 5777 (taking a looong time to get to Lifetime Pleb)
Only need 115 SCs to requalify SG by Oct 31.
Nothing booked but have been regularly flying (every two weeks or so) since Feb.

No rhyme or reason to it by the look of it. I will easily get to SG again now with a fair bit of SYD-BNE-TSV at 100 SCs per return and SYD-CNS at 80 SCs. Will probably get within a couple of hundred SCs of WP so maybe it's an incentive for me to do an OS trip.

If you are in TSV on a regular basis why bother with a OS trip to get WP, cash in 48K of QFF points + $200 and do a same day run to DRW as a JASA - 560 SCs is the end result of a long day flying, and if you do it on a Thursday you will get Skybeds for the the BNE-DRW return leg.

When l did the NAN J Run last year, the double SC's posted within 24-48hours except 1 which took 72 hours, but some members on here haven't been so fortunate.

If it makes you feel any better Johnk, I didn't get it either.

It's a good thing too. I've got gold locked in already, and if I got the double SC offer, I may have done something foolish, like have a stab at getting to platinum:shock::cool:

Not getting the offer may be saving me money
