Double Status Credits 2011

I received this offer :D

I had a conversation via email with hvr yesterday over whether I should push for gold before the end of May (need 310) or should I wait till June when my new year begins.

Luckily I haven't booked my flight to Melbourne in June so now I'm working out how to maximise this offer on that trip.

And Qantas have achieved their goal, I'm looking at some extra flying I otherwise wouldn't have done......

BNE-TSV rededeal TSV-ADL JASA ADL-MEL rededeal MEL-BNE rededeaL should do the trick.

I'd wait till your new year in that way you will have SG for almost two years.

Good idea. I forgot to mention I have about 170 000 points to play with.

I did just price booking Bne-Akl-Mel-Bne in Y for $533. The points calculator says 55 sc's which would double to 110.

That's a good idea. I am thinking San Francisco in February for a knitting convention so gold by then would be great.

bugger I missed out getting an email! :( Just when I was online right now to plan my SC run so I could get to WP...

Damn!

You also need to look at if you get Gold in this year, could you retain it next year? (i.e. get 900SC in the next 12 months?).

Good point. 310 now then 600 in my new year. I doubt I will have work funded trips to Townsville and Darwin like I did last year - all I have lined up is a possible trip to Albury. Am thinking I'll wait till June.

Well it is only a couple of weeks to go, so you still get 2 months to get the 700sc's!

I am debating where to go for the next two months myself as I have time off and points for JASA's

In people's experience how long do the additional promo SC's take to credit?

Reason I ask is I could so a SC run, hit PS, then when the additional SC's credit hit SG - or would I just be given SG and skip PS altogether (currently NB).

Can anyone explain exactly what needs to happen to an existing booking to make it count as a new booking and earn double SCs?

e.g. if I have an international J (I) fare, do I need to get it refunded and book again (and pay the increased fuel fine)? Or could the travel agent do something to the booking to 'reset' it?

Also my membership year ends 31st July - when the double SC promo ends. Is there any way I can do some flying in July and have the SCs credit 6 weeks later in August? Or will they expire with the rest of my SCs at the end of July?

(I guess a related question is how does the 'bonus SCs will be credited 6 weeks later' work? If the bonus SCs kick you to the next status level, does that happen in the day or two after you fly, or do you have to wait 6 weeks for the bonus SCs to apply?)

I gotta say that QF could have been much clearer in the email they sent out about this promotion. I was hoping the FAQs link in it would help but it just takes you to a useless generic Qantas bookings FAQ page.

I should be one of the first people to receive these promotions
Ummmm ..... why?
Because I am special! ;)

But seriously some two way loyalty would not go astray here. But I guess Qantas does not care about keeping existing customers instead dangling a carrot in front of infrequent flyers to fly with them. Unfortunately it is those same people thay are targetting who do not care about loyalty and would jump ship as soon as the carrot offered on the other side looks better.

You need a totally new booking that is not in any way related to the previous booking.

All SCs for flights, including bonus SCs, taken before July 31 will post in your previous year.

(I guess a related question is how does the 'bonus SCs will be credited 6 weeks later' work? If the bonus SCs kick you to the next status level, does that happen in the day or two after you fly, or do you have to wait 6 weeks for the bonus SCs to apply?)
Bonus SCs will post retroactively in the membership they were earned.

Received my email on 11th May, needed a few days to organise time off work, and have just booked myself a short holiday/status run to Fiji in July.

Love the BNE-NAN run in J, 600 status points (during current double status points promotion) for around $1200. (routing is BNExMELxNAN-SYDxBNE), this will see me retain gold for another year, as my status year ends 30 June.

The only thing that gets me thinking though, is why does it cost $700 odd for BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN in J, whereas booking BNE-MEL alone is $1200, likewise NAN-SYD-BNE is $493 (thanks to booking on fiji Qantas site), yet Syd-BNE is $693?
Am I the only one who thinks this is strange!!!

We all know you are special JohnK

There has been quite a few WP's that got the offer. Honestly I think it has nothing to do with how much you have flown, rather X number of FF's were selected at random. My last double SC's were in February 2007.

Sure looks like if QF thinks they can take your business / loyalty / spend for granted, well they will. Being selective only generates resentment from those not "chosen" by some unpublished criteria to be awarded 2x SCs. Fair go QF. Level playing field mate. Hey Red Roo. You there?

Can't agree with that. This is a targeted marketing campaign - and is no different from similar campaigns offered by virtually every company on the globe.

Being selective gives them specific market/customer intelligence.

I received the offer, and as I am looking towards a lean year as far as work travel is concerned, decided to take out a little "insurance" to ensure I keep WP.

A JASA BNE-SYD-HBA/overnight/HBA-MEL-BNE for just under 55k points (accounting for 10k points earned including loyalty bonus) and 1 night's hotel in Hobart seems like pretty good value for 400 SCs. They must be getting popular though, because the 32k one way JASAs are rapidly vanishing!!

Not really relevant but did anybody notice the spelling mistake in the subject line of the "Double Stats credits" email?

Weirdest thing happened. Double SC posted to my account, but I wasn't targeted for the current promo, didn't answer any surveys and this JASA was booked back in April 2011 .

I'm not complaining though

+1 here for weird SC's. But in my case the double SC's don't seem to have any relationship to the prior flights. A bonus or an error? Either way it makes up for not getting the double SC promo.:)

23 MAY 11 DOUBLE STATUS CREDITS PROMOTION 23MAY11 - - - 0 80

21 MAY 11 QF 752 ECONOMY ADELAIDE/SYDNEY 725 - 725 1,450 15

12 MAY 11 QF 759 ECONOMY SYDNEY/ADELAIDE 725 - 725 1,450 15

How bizar, they must have some Gremlins again at QF...

I definitely hope they apply the double stat credits for my trip in July that was booked a while back
