Double Status Credits 2013

I got an interesting one yesterday.

Double SC on SuperSaver fares to HKG.
Plus 4500 bonus QFF points on SuperSaver or FlexiSaver return flights.

SuperSaver fares are listed as H and K class and FlexiSaver fares listed as Y and B.

Must book by 20 December for travel before 30 June.

The interesting part about all this is that I have been doing lots of searches for flights to HKG recently as I have a work trip coming up. Luckily the email arrived before I kicked off the booking process. I may end up with a Red e-deal though due to cost cutting =(

I received this offer too for HK and haven't done one search for flights there.

My wife got that offer but none for me

I got he offer to and have never been to or thought of going to HK. The closest Ive got is booking a ticket for someone else so not logged into my account.

My partner just fessed up that she received the DSC promo in August. Unfortunately it's a missed opportunity as all 11 flights in the promo period were pre-booked.

Speaking of which, I just received another email on the DSC, reminding me that I didn't register from the first email. Well, if I ain't flying, I ain't flying. A few more DSC (or even Quadruple SC) still probably won't get me into the air...

My understanding is that only the "Y" fare bucket gives you the "economy" level of status credits instead of "discount economy" on international segments. So in PE you already get double the SC earn of all whY tickets except if booked in "Y" class. Considering that a ticket booking in Y is easily 4 to 5K, I would suggest flying in J if you want to cancel you booking.

Thanks for the advice, defurax. I will probably simply stick with my PE booking at this stage, although J is tempting!

If the DSC offer requires a new booking, using the credit to rebook won't work as the date of purchase would still be counted as the original date when you booked the PE seat.

I assume from the posts that receiving a DSC offer is simply a lottery. Status level or status points position for re-qualification has nothing to do with the likely hood of receiving this high anticipated email? My requal period is December, with a DSC offer i would make gold, without it just fall short.

If you can get to TSV thats where the big points begin and TSV/BNE/DRW return is top of the list.

If you have some points to burn follow the ASA trail.

I once flew on an intercontinental Viscount service (TNG-GIB) ... albeit only 15mins IIRC!!

off topic but..

Dash 8 I usually say to take your noise cancelling phones with you.

A Viscount uh', well I flew with my old mate Billy Pike a Q 747 Capt. at the time in his Rebel Air DC3 hobby business, all those years ago to the Aust Grand Prix SYD/MEL, a long day it was for all of us, but for some reason I did't remember much of it .

Same here, I wonder if the DSC's for us Dec renewers have been sent out yet.

Just got a DSC offer email, with booking/travel period starting three days ago(?) until the end of December, which is when my renewal date is. I already have travel booked that'll get me to 1405 SCs before then, and no other trips I need to book for that period. Might have to go to waste, but I'll click the "Register now" button anyway!
