That's definitely a Classic Award which does not earn points and SCs .

Long time lurker, first time poster - got my 2nd DSC offer, valid til Dec 31 (which is also when my membership year ticks over). The only problem is I'm now living in Berlin, so my home base is TXL. I'm only 200SCs away from requalifying for Gold but the only way I know to get a QF coded flight ex-/intra-Europe is to combine it with an international booking, usually TXL-xLHR-?. I've found fares TXL-LHR-DXB that can be had for ~$400AUD r/t for 140SCs with the offer but I have a feeling that may be pushing the boundaries of an acceptable status run. I've also got an upcoming booking on AB which will get me 20SCs.

Does anyone know of any other options I might have?

I have a 50% SC offer so I am going to Adelaide to pick up some Haighs chocolates going SYD-ADL-SYD on a JASA on Sunday. I think I will be in Adelaide for about an hour.
It is a crawl to make it to LTG that's for sure.

Yes I confirmed that when I sent Mrscove to Adelaide for an hour in June at the end of her DSC offer. She ran up 1770 SCs in 3 months in her weekend runs.

It was indeed a Classic. I booked it a couple of weeks ago. I rang up, confirmed that it was Classic, then the guy was helpful and found me a CBR-MEL flight that day, I got stung 5000 points for cancelling the CBR-ADL-MEL flight and bought the CBR-MEL flight instead. Won't get me to Gold but will get me to Silver at least - currently 610 points but only 3 flight segments on QF so far, so this will trigger the 4th leg.

I learned a valuable lesson, at least. The Qantas website is incredibly difficult to understand, and despite my reading of the ASA thread, I still couldn't figure out how to do the damn thing. Why can't the website be more helpful?

If you're going to be flying on a similar number of flights in the next QF year, it might still be worth doing an extra flight to reach gold. You get access to lounges, better seats choices, and you'll only need 600SCs to retain gold.

Yeah I think I will, just 50 SCs short now of Gold. My new job involves a bit of J travel so I might just wait to see what happens before April, and if it gets too close, I'll do the last 50 SC myself.

Uh, I just did multi-city and then picked ADL and MEL as the destination airports. It produces 100 SC for 24,000 points + about $90. I thought that was pretty good.

I wonder what such a run would cost if booked as a JASA ?

Got the DSC offer on the 3-month run up to my anniversary, and boy did I need it if I wanted to retain gold. Optimistically I would just scrape through if all my ships came in. But then it all started going to custard - the NZ trip I was expecting was deferred and a trip to Perth had to be declined for family reasons. In my first DSC month I scored one poxy return to Brisbane .... things were looking bleak.

Then joy - when I next looked at my summary page my gold status had been extended to 2014. The letter soon followed with the standard opening .... "Although you have fallen woefully short of requalification...." [I am paraphrasing here].

So Chance had yielded a "Get into Gold Free" card. Gratefully received and gladly used. But it gets better.

In the dying weeks of my year I have had an urgent need to work in China and the Qantas/Cathay fare should see me break the finishing tape under my own steam - status comp no longer required.

Any chance I can get Qantas to extend me to 2015 now????

First serious year of flying for work (mix of domestic J and Y) has got me to gold for the first time, with the help of a DSC offer towards the end of the year. Should be handy for a big year of planned holidays / work trips.

Anyone with a requal date in January received a DSC offer yet?

Didn't get the 50%, but a DSC offer around now will get me damn close to WP for the first time.

Not that I'm greedy or anything, this year will be my first year out of NB (should make SG in late November all going to plan). But a DSC in the next few weeks will see me within about 80SC of WP!! Would be great to guarantee Gold to Jan 2016 and use the FLounge for my RTW at the end of the year.

I can also recommend the James Road biscuits while you are at the airport shop. Not the cheapest, but oh so good.

Although i seem to be offered them in exactly that instance most times!
