Double Status Credits are back

Re: Double SC's are back email!

Might have to bring forward a NAN status run :) 720 SCs for $1250 :)

I'd go buy a HD LCD TV ;) Naaah just teasing, I would be tempted to do one of these NAN runs if I was offered the 2x SC.

Re: Double SC's are back email!

From the Terms & Conditions:

Eligible flights for this double Status credits offer are flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number where Status credits are normally earned

So flights on other OneWorld carriers, unless on QF code share numbers, won't earn double SCs.

As to the suggestion that the promotion targeted people nearing Partner Gold - the email itself states:

Make the most of this offer, and if you reach 2,100 Status credits in one membership year - you can receive complimentary Gold membership for your partner^.

FWIW with my current bookings I will comfortably make Partner Gold this year, but it'll be my first year at that level with recent years in the 1400-1800 SC range.

Re: Double SC's are back email!

mmmm... Well I have not received the email. I am at 1340 SC's this year with my qualifying year ending in September. I have 960 SC's of travel booked between 17th of April and 20th of May. Theses flights are all J so I can cancel and re-book if I want to.

This would be good to count towards LTS and LTG.

What a pity I can't give someone PG... It gets wasted as my partner is SG in their own right.

I hate these targetted promos!!! Where's my email???

Re: Double SC's are back email!

I noticed the '...must book and fly between...', so thought I'd be smart, cancel all my bookings and re-book the same flights...

I failed to notice that minor detail.

So even if I was eligible, I'd be a bit routed. (Everything in that period is already booked.)

Re: Double SC's are back email!

.....

So it seems this really was a perfectly targeted email in my case - Qantas has made me feel like I'm important to them as a specially selected WP member, but in reality I probably won't earn a single additional SC as a result.
My thoughts EXACTLY.... I've already booked a lot of flights between now and 30 June.

Targeted promos suck - at least make it available to those within the same tier. :(

Re: Double SC's are back email!

Nothing here. 1540 SCs with a 31-Jul year-end.
Would have been very useful as about to book a J BKK fare.

I got excited when I saw this thread couple of hours ago and looked at my Hotmail account.

Last year when I was Gold and wanted this they made the offer to Platinum FFers.

This year when I probably cannot use it they offer it to Gold and Platinum FFers.

ie I got the same offer as a Platinum.
At least you were targeted.

One thing about SC promotions for those in the know:

Do bonus SCs count for the purposes of calculating your loyalty bonus?
It has counted in the past.

Didn't get it last time and haven't got it this time... yet...

Always living in hope!

Shattered.... Partner arrived home from work and announced that they had received an email with the offer...... Looks like we will both be WP this year.....Oh well..... I guess we can just "guest" lots of NB and PS AFF'ers when we fly.

So does that mean a status credit run would be extra worthy? Can anyone advise what would be the best domestic run from SYD (e.g. SYD-CBR-MEL-ADL-PRT return - what would that be worth)?

You could say doubly worthy but like all such things its up to you to decide the value, you could do SYD-BNE for $79 using the sale fare then do a one way BNE-NAN with a long stop over in Sydney, because of the stop over in Sydney you dont need to worry about the timing of the BNE-MEL-SYD J flights making it doable in 4-5 hours, 220 SC's for $750 with a one way J trip SYD-NAN up your sleeve to use later.

If nothing else, it would be interesting to find out what the basis for the targeting is, especially since it seems to be applied right across the tiers.

Doesn't seem to be related to overall spend (otherwise it would be more heavily weighted towards WPs and not pick up NBs), tier, anniversary date or SCs left to requalify.

I must say, I prefer AA's double EQM promos that don't discriminate in this way, or their tier-based elite rewards. Really shows what masochists we are for dancing with the fickle QF.

Do you know anyone who works in Qantas IT or marketing? ;)

My guess would be a random process.

In a way one could argue that it devalues status in a small way as it is not available to everyone.

Really? Seems like a strange thing to randomise. They may as well call it a lottery.

This QP PS did not get an offer. Will check with DH. My NB 3yo didn't get an offer either (yet). ;)

got the offer- but like a few on this thread i already have enough bookings in that time frame to requaliy for platinum - so i'm unlikely to benefit from the promotion (registered anyway, in case there is a bug and i get double sc for existing bookings...)

last time i missed out (got offered a bonus 50 status credits for next booking within the 6 week time frame)
