And the other side of the DSC promo is that the Specials come after the DSC purchase period for those not shackled to Status and fly BFOD

Thats what happened last year, and i have no doubt some specials will be offered as early as tomorrow. :p

And then the company travel agent threw a spanner in the works. The travel policy dictates we need to go through the agent (a Flight Centre company) and they are too fancy for this stuff: "We are unable to accept Qantas gift vouchers as they are for use directly with the carrier."
In other words, I need to make my bookings through their system which goes direct to Qantas booking system without manual intervention. Bum, was hoping to get an extra 200SC from my east coast hops... o_O

Oh No. Not FC. :p

Just booked a flight we needed to get to Bali to connect with a Qatar flight to CDG. Jetstar was the same price as Qantas so Qantas won because of this. Except we need to route through Sydney instead of direct. Shame. Means we have to visit the F lounge first. And this time we will eat as the food on the Qantas flight is a bit rubbish.

Why fly direct when you can connect via the F lounge.........

I'm inclined to assume the voucher "trick" will still work, simply because for it not to work would require changes to the back-end systems that process the promotions, and I doubt the work experience kid has had time to do it yet.
I tend to agree. Given they amended the T&C part way through suggests they haven’t tinkered back end. So maybe a scare tactic. But it may be the last time. Time will tell.

Why fly direct when you can connect via the F lounge.........

It does add a few more hours but it does get in at a respectable time compared with Jetstar at midnight.

The email I got this arvo reminding me to book had no mention of vouchers in the conditions....

Well I made good use of this promo, made $1,500 of bookings for flights in Feb that I was thinking of booking and I just needed to contact clients to confirm dates. May yet avail myself of more, need to decide at work later today. This is less a desire to increase current status, but heading towards Lifetime Gold

Sure enough, I relented and made another booking BNE/SYD/BNE using my Amex $400 credit (do love that these are revenue tickets). Qantas will be happy with $1,740 in bookings they didn't have before the offer, I'm happy with another 210 SC's (including DSC's) towards Lifetime Gold.

Don't think I'll go for too many of the other options ;) - QF is not my main carrier.

Assume the 210 includes the 50 loyalty?

Across the ditch earns 80 each way = 320 for about the same price but needs a whole day of travel

@Quickstatus , my calculations don't include any loyalty bonus, as I'm only on 163 SC's at the moment and the 210 get me nowhere near the required 500.

These trips were all business trips that I hadn't got around to booking (so my business is funding), the DSC timing was perfect for me, got me off the fence.

If I had the time and the personal $ to do additional personal DSC runs, then I would have booked (definitely would have been AKL in the mix), but we have 2 International trips this year already booked or in planning, both with VA and partner airlines (love that Family Pooling that will see me back up to Platinum).

Hi all, a little last minute so apologies... I need to book flights chasing approx 5/600 SC incl the bonus. I had flights lined up with an agent today but Qantas pulled the fares :( I could travel to AKL in May or August but am pretty flexible. Any help appreciated. Thanks

So if this promo is for flights until 20/1/19, why cant I see any flights past 4/1/19?

Contained in an e-mail from Qantas tonight was a reminder about the DSC promo. Here is the full asterisked text; I have bolded text which appears to be relevant in the voucher-flights-count-or-not debate. A simple, black and white statement, NOT contingent on anything else, such as "exceptions apply - see full T&Cs" etc etc.

Oh, also note the multiple punctuation typos, caused by one of the work experience kids dropping the words "This link will open in a new window" into the wrong place. I've put that part in red so we can enjoy it more.

This mob are just so pathetic, I almost feel sorry for them.

Almost.
