Oh No. Not FC. :p
And then the company travel agent threw a spanner in the works. The travel policy dictates we need to go through the agent (a Flight Centre company) and they are too fancy for this stuff: "We are unable to accept Qantas gift vouchers as they are for use directly with the carrier."
In other words, I need to make my bookings through their system which goes direct to Qantas booking system without manual intervention. Bum, was hoping to get an extra 200SC from my east coast hops... o_O

That’s not a Flight Centre issue. If you buy a gift voucher it is part Payment for a booking directly with Qantas. It’s pretty clear when you buy the gift voucher what the redemption options are.

Travel Agents cannot touch gift vouchers for bookings AFAIK. It’s not because they are too fancy, it’s just not actually possible.

OK, flights booked! Flights overlap my Dec anniversary, but at least I'll be starting the new year with a big leg up. Hopefully should hit silver in 2019.

Can’t get Amex Travel online to book a return flight on one day with a 40 minute gap in OOL or CNS. Was hoping to book that. I guess I’ll settle for not getting DSC on the trip I use this for.

I think because it’s a PNR created by the airline and therefore cannot be mofdified by a TA?

Might have to 131313
This is not a QF issue, this is an issue with booking through Amex Travel which is a separate website. It's not showing all the options that it should be imo. If I rang QF they'd just tell me to go to Amex, I would think. Anyway I'll use the travel credit for a short domestic trip that wouldn't earn much anyway at some point.

The same plane turns around in 40 minutes. There should be zero problems with booking a status run imo, but that's my opinion.

Did the opposite and booked two points redemption tickets to Fiji out of Perth in August as we already have 1440 status credits booked for our next year with Qantas. No need to do more.

I booked 2 J flights Syd - Pek return 2 days before I got the email . Just my luck so I then booked our next return flights and internal flights too so I will get the double for them.

Definitely an AMEX thing. Had the same issue last year. Flight option not showing despite it is available to book direct with QF.

I called up AMEX this afternoon wanting to know why I was only shown the discount fares and not FLEX fares. They told me they are only given certain fares & flights by QF to sell on Amex Travel.
No idea if that's true or not - either way was frustrating I couldn't book my FLEX fare using my credit.

Its not as if Amex takes what is given. Amex and QF would have some agreement as to which fares Amex can sell, the wholesale price, and for what commission??. Either way its not proper disclosure. Does Amex disclose that the travel credit is only valid for some fares and not all fares are displayed?

It's more limited by the way they have designed their search function. It's only when you get to the payment stage that you decide whether or not to use a voucher.

The NOU J sale is selling out fast... all dates in Feb and March for QF return same weekend now gone... some still free in June for the last 28 minutes of booking!

Argh :(.... always get caught by the AEST clause after the fact. Will I never learn that living in Perth means booking on 5/2/2018 does not equal booking on 5/2/2018. No double SCs for me this year I believe.

That's not exactly true.
A PNR created by QF over the phone can be taken over and modified by a TA however a PNR created online can not.
