Perhaps given the offer is now over, done and dusted this thread can be locked. Perhaps a new thread can be started on successful postings from the 12'th Feb (or whenever someone gets their first DSC) :)

Where's the bloody fun in that? :) I have a theory that Admin may be buying one of the QF IT or loyalty people a soft drink or two to facilitate QF putting ambiguous wording, changing wording etc into their promos, just to drive traffic on the site. :) Kidding, really!:)

I cannot believe how much content is being generated on the same subject, vouchers and trying to pull apart the T’s and C’s. When you actually look at the original T’s and C’s (prior to the QF update) there were a couple of minor differences to last year’s offer, however in general <snip>
Lets see what happens.

Another non- funster:). Where's the fun in a thread that goes:

OP:. QF have a DSC promo on now. See their web site.

SP: Oh. Thanks.

< Crickets> :p

Well what a bust that was!

I spent over two hours on the Qantas website trying to book and every time on the final page there was an error message that I had to start again. I wanted to book about 8 flights including a multi-city one so initially I thought it was the complexity of the latter causing a problem and tried some simpler booking, still crashing. As there is little hope of getting anyone on the phone outside regular hours I finally gave up.

I've lost interest in their promotions now, the windows is so tight and the no changes at all conditions are so restrictive it just isn't worth the trouble. Perhaps their website problems are a blessing I'll look around more and get better deals which are flexible and stop chasing SC's. So not such a successful promotion for them this time.

Yes, this was on Monday.

It's almost like a government owned website, works great up to the point a customer wants to pay.

Yes, I changed a voucher purchased to one adult and one child via the call centre a year or two ago.

Thank you Fiona, I'll give it a go.

Good to know! I did a 2 x adult one where it is really an adult + a child, as well... I wasn't sure how it would play out with regard to the child fare. Wasn't concerned that they wouldn't allow it, as such. More about securing the slightly lower fare for the child.

Cheers,
Matt.

QF site was also giving up error messages today. Maybe they are trying to fix ITS to meet, changed T's and C's. Hope not.

I should clarify by saying that I redeemed the voucher by calling up and the agent was easily able to use it towards an adult and child fare.
The gift voucher by itself wasn’t altered.
The PNR remained the same with the actual flights once ticketed.

That’s unfortunate then. My site would hang just before payment page but we have awful internet here. But then progressed.

Normally I'd take anyone's point of view when it comes to Qantas T&Cs, as they are often badly/ambiguously worded, but here I think its pretty clear. From my invite e-mail:

I think the intent is pretty clear, and its consistent with just about every other 'register and book' type promotion.

Sorry, been off the air for a few days. Thank you for your reply.

I understand the intent, however it is very ambiguous as my email invite (clearly different to yours) says the following;

They leave themselves open with this sort of thing

It's a basic check of the use of gift vouchers that has been discussed. It is intended as a thinking point for those who consider this use to be reasonable. Self reflection versus exorbitant hype. The bravado in saying Qantas will never take legal action does indeed miss the point. Good luck with it all.

Except there is ZERO way QF could prove intent (of your proclaimed fraud). People buy vouchers all the time for any number of reasons. Just because someone buys a bunch on Feb 1st doesn't follow that their intent has ANYTHING to do with any promotion that may be going on at the time. In the act of buying a voucher it is a valid transaction with the company, for which QF receives money.

One example is to avoid the CC charges, and I do this for all domestic bookings I make or ex-AU. That has NOTHING to do with any promotions and everything to do with saving a few bucks :) Again that is an absolutely valid transaction for QF. While they don't overtly advertise this as a benefit to the vouchers, they sell them that way. Is someone going to suggest that buying gift vouchers to avoid CC fees is also some form of fraud? I'd like to see that one go to court :)

The "action" QF will take against anyone will be either to award DSC or to not. Simples!

I think this discussion is getting a wee bit out of hand.

the key points here are, as discussed, QF's absolutely terrible (and ongoing) wording in promotion terms and the fact, that has been lost, the T&C were CHANGED after the start of the promotion... If there's any legal issues in this whole thing it's surely THAT fact rather than anything to do with vouchers (not suggesting that anyone could or should take this up as a legal thing, but changging terms mid stream? That's not right).

I never said they would take legal action, for about the 4th time now. As I clearly state in the post you quoted it is a point about self reflection. Hopefully, people can understand their own intent in buying a gift voucher. NOTHING to do with Qantas. But you have written a nice bit of obfuscation that does not address my point.

ugh. Mindful of the mods comment earlier I will just say - as someone else pointed out - YOU started this whole "legal action" thing with the comment about Layers and fraudulant activity from whence the rest of this tangent followed. Sorry you can't just put that out there and not expect us to read that into the related discussion.

As for your point? Which is? "Self reflection versus exhorbitant hype" - what does that even mean? Mate you should write QF T&C?!

By the way I was not obfuscating(sp?) anything. Anyone who knows anything I write on this forum knows I am oververbose to explain my point :D I'm not trying to hide anything but to explain MY point. *shrug*

Anyway again mindful of this thread and straying from topic I'll leave it there.

For the SIXTH time I DID NOT mention legal action. I was pointing out how a reasonable person might view the actions with gift vouchers (to extend the booking period - clearly written about) versus the exhorbitant hype of self justification for such actions . The harassment of the messenger in response to a reality check, instead of self reflection, only reinforces my opinion. Enjoy the group think...

I especially love your insult about writing qantas terms and conditions.

I think as soon as you mention lawyers and fraudulent acts, then people think ‘legal action’ even if not overtly stated.

Bring on the 12th. MrP flying that day to NZ with a flight booked that is based on all the correct T&C’s. Sadly his return using a delayed booking could not be booked.

[Mod hat on again]

Okay, seems that everybody wants the last word. The best part is that we Mods have the last word :D.

So our last words - this is where the off-topic comments stop, discussion from here is back on topic. We trust you all know what the topic is...

Second and final request before moderation action starts in earnest. Don't say you haven't been warned. Looks sternly in all directions :rolleyes:o_O;):(.

[/mod hat off]

I booked DSCs for a SYD-HKG trip in two weeks - got in 10 minutes before the end (11.50pm on Monday). In previous years I've left trips until later in the year but the DSCs from this trip will get me to Platinum for the first time ever. Last year I got mine within 5 days after the flight (I flew on a Friday & got them on the following Tuesday, which was after my usual serving appearing soon after landing).

Enjoy. Make sure you do an international trip whilst WP. Visiting the FLounge is a special experience.

It could take a little longer for DSCs to begin to be processed initially at the start of the promo, but once they do for me at least I tend to get DSCs 2-3 Business Days after getting the standard SCs.
