Received a 50% bonus Status Credits offer this morning. Terms and Conditions make no mention of Gift Vouchers.

Call me skeptical (regarding their late change of the Double bonus SCs offer T&Cs etc.), but fingers-crossed the gift vouchers bought during the Double SC offer period will still work when redeemed for flights afterward. If not, then I've got a bunch of Gift Vouchers which save me from paying the credit card fee anyway.

FWIW, Qantas are not unknown for making changes to their systems to make improvements: they did after all, after our feedback, fix the error whereby residual-value vouchers could not be managed online after redemption (it required a phone call to have some comments removed from certain fields in the booking record otherwise). Of course, "improvements" are subjectively viewed depending on whose perspective you are considering.

I wasn't aware that issue had been fixed. That would be a true improvement.

As I mentioned in an earlier post most QF offers are the same generic words with minor differences. Maybe the changes made mid stream was a knee-jerk reaction to the individuals sending emails and calling up the CC to ask specifically about vouchers.

And of course an issue as to whether actions follow words.

More likely than not the templates just haven't been updated (if the T&C change is intended to be an ongoing, general change vs a one time only one... if it's even a change at all given the ambigious wording :) )

QF can be quite slow to update things. eg long after the new branding had appeared I remember getting emails with the "old" branding, pictures of old FF cards etc since it just hadn't been updated.

Still, an interesting data point - thanks for sharing!

I flew my first sector today booked during the “booking window” but unfortunately too early for the “flying window” since it doesn’t start until the 12th.

Oh well, had to be flown anyway!

Almost to the start of the flying window now. I wonder when the first sweep of DSCs will be.

Anyone doing a DSC flight on the 12th (tomorrow)?

MrP is just about to finish his first flight to Melb. Then to Auckland. Not sure if the next flight on to Rotorua counts.

Not unless QF fly to Rotorua (DSC only earns on QF flight numbers on QF metal).
Sure. He doesn’t need SC as year ends in April, all requal WP, and won’t quite reach the 2400 to give SG to family member and is LTG. It’s more of an interest thing I guess.

Qantas is in need of creating revenue, after years of cost cutting, hearing that they made redundant a large percentage of catering crew, heavily invested into QF Lounge network, paying dividends to QF shareholders.

Think it's a smart move strategy from QF to lure people over (especially the domestic market) & retain customer loyalty. Giving people a taste of reaching elite status quickly to realise there is more than the gate lounge in airport. With close to 675 viewers on this thread, don't think there is any need to be alarmed as to what we all know & share compared to the other travellers. So if 1000 people bought vouchers to use for this DSC promo, is it worth it for QF to address this issue? QF would be focusing more on other avenues to increase & build their business than dealing with so called hardcore frequent flyers.

I shall be flying MEL-BNE-MEL on the 15th using a voucher. Flights booked this morning so will see what happens.

Don't discount a company's ability to retrospectively remove "unintended benefits". After all, QF has access to everyone's QFF accounts and could easily remove SCs (and points) that were credited by accident.

A change to how things work would likely not be retrospective and require manual work to retrospectively remove "unintended benefits". It would seem to be hardly worth QF's effort to do that.

Of course even if DSC do not post in a few days you won't know for sure until after 6-8 weeks ....

What? No voucher, and booked after 5th Feb to liven things up a bit?
I know I know. I was going to do a delayed booking for the flight back not realising the voucher would only let me book from Australia not into.

Normal credits for flight today have already posted so will advise when the DSC come through.
As an addition. The flight today was ADL - Wellington - Rotorua. Flew out from Wellington but got turned around before landing in Rotorua and stuck in Wellington now for the night. Will have to fly out tomorrow. Be nice to get double double credits. :D
