I haven't read and I probably won't, but by the sounds of it, it possibly discusses options from an employer perspective. Most SS contributing employees probably don't really care about the companies FBT obligations! ;)

Well except if the company finds out that something you have paid for in pre tax income isn’t FBT exempt (which work travel is) ... then they’d have 47.5% reasons (or whatever it is now) to care

But from the original quote, it sounded to me like the SS was being managed by the company themselves or a specialist SS management company so I still doubt an employee would even think once (let alone twice) about the companies FBT!

A little OT to this one, but still of interest, I suspect...

I received a [targeted] 50% bonus SC offer today, for eligible flight bookings on QF marketed flights (not QF-metal restricted). Interestingly, there is zero reference that I can find in the T&Cs or linked wording to you know what... I'm still sitting on a few GVs from Feb, so not sure if I'll act.

* An eligible flight for the purpose of this promotion means any Qantas marketed flight with a QF flight number on your ticket where Status Credits are normally earned. 50% more Status Credits will not be earned on some fare types and booking classes including Classic Flight Rewards. See Airline Earning Tables for details. This offer is valid when you register and make a new eligible flight booking between 12.01am (AEST) 4 June 2018 and 11.59pm (AEST) 10 June 2018 for travel between 4 June 2018 and 2 October 2018. This bonus offer applies to travel taken by the recipient of this email only (regardless of other passengers in the same booking), and is not transferable. Each passenger must register separately to be eligible for the offer. Bonus Status Credits may take up to 6 weeks after completion of travel to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Flights are subject to availability and any applicable fare conditions. Flights can be booked via the Qantas website, a travel agent or Qantas Contact Centres. Fees may apply. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number must be recorded at the time of registration and booking to earn bonus Status Credits. This bonus offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer by Qantas. Bonus Status Credits earned from this offer do not count towards Loyalty Bonus or Platinum One Loyalty Bonus earn requirements. Only one bonus Status Credits offer can be used per individual qualifying segment of your itinerary. If you qualify for multiple bonus offers, the offer first registered for will be applied to each individual qualifying segment. Full or part travel of an itinerary is eligible only if you book and travel within the promotional dates as listed above. If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply.

I am now firmly convinced that Qantas is relying on manual intervention behind the scenes to keep the SC system operating and the task is beyond those entrusted with it.
I've occasionally provided off topic comment on the chaotic state of my Status Activity tallies. I don't know if it's just me but they are very seldom correct. Immediately after the upgrade they came good but it didn't last.
Having a little time to kill, I rang up and asked them to fix the situation. I concentrated on my SC total towards the next Loyalty Bonus. This was eighty SC's less than it should have been. Over the course of the phone call, we carefully explored why this should be, even manually adding up the figures. Ultimately, it was concluded that I was correct but no reason for the discrepancy could be found. They promised to pass this on for repair.
Lo and behold, I now find they've fixed it, but they've also added 80 SC's in other places. I'm now 80 SC's closer to P1 than I should be (not excited, still won't make it!), my total towards the Platinum bonus is now only wrong by 50, instead of 130! It has to be human, no computer could stuff it up in such creative ways! Instead of auditing the situation, someone's just referred to the phone call; 80 SC error, let's just add 80 SC's across the board.

In the last two days I have had a GV post both sectors without prompting. And one sector from another GV, leaving me half a trip, and another full GV down. So count me confused (but also relieved).

Most recent trip had 2 out of 4 flights receive DSCs (so far). This was booked with a gift voucher bought near the end of the period (after the various ham-fisted T&C changes).

GV flights from last weekend have posted but May flights seem to have fallen into the IT black hole.

After three phone calls (38mins total) and about a dozen emails to QFF, DSCs finally posted today from trips taken in April.

Recently flown flights booked using GV but outside of period. Four of six sectors posted within a few days of flights. Interestingly, the first two sectors are the ones that didn't post. Exactly the same situation for MrsDaver6. Same sectors, different GVs and PNRs, but same flights.

More verification that the system can also work as some would desire.
I purchased GV's during the promo period, right before the T&C's were adjusted. The flights were booked in May and dates changed for both legs a few days later. The return flight seems to have the DSC's posted automatically, now just waiting for the outbound to be gifted, as well.

It appears there are a number of cases where outbound DSCs have not automatically posted.

I do not expect the ones from my last trip to turn up by themselves later.

It appears also that they can post automatically. The outbound DSC has come through five days after the flight. Perhaps something works in the Qantas system... Hopefully it's a case of them missing only the earlier flights and now having the ducks lined up better. :D

Qantas might be able to fly planes but I'd hate to see them trying to line up ducks. Especially if they got their IT people involved. They'd foul it up for sure! :)

Seem to be back on track for ‘fully legit’ non GV bookings - all mine posted 2 days after flying no intervention required.

Same for me in the past fortnight - automatic within 48 hours, even over weekend.

Just received my DSC for a GV purchased MEL-SYD-CNS and return trip. Had to apply for original routing credit as the return leg had cancelled flights, date changes, then a route change due to operational issues. Took half a dozen emails but it all came through in the end.

Purchased GV after change in T&Cs and flight booked in mid March. Like some others, didn't receive anything for outbound but got DSC for inbound for both the domestic and international legs around two days after flights. Since I'm not entitled to it, I call it a win :)
